Default Little Mishap

The Good Lady Wife was on the way to work tonight, when Bam, she was clipped by a young guy in a Nissan.

She was a little shaken, but returned home and swapped the wagon for the
SR and set off to work again. She's a real trooper my Mrs! Bless her.

He moved across without warning and smashed our left mirror and left a few minor scuffs on the two doors. Thankfully they'll buff out! LOL!

The mirror will need to be replaced. I've already taken it off and am trying to contact an Ebay seller who has a second-hand genuine item for sale. I hope I can get it tomorrow, but he appears offline at the moment. It's only $48 which is fine. Any idea what a genuine item would cost me? I may need to swing by and get one tomorrow if the Ebay guy is out of action for the weekend.

Some good news though, is that the mirror scalp (colour coded in Burgundy) only had a minor scuff which I polished out easily. I'll put it on the new mirror and three screws, a few rubber bungs and one electrical connector later, and we'll be back in business!

Thank God no one was hurt and that the car is easily repairable. The Mrs went up on the curb to get away from the guy, which is awesome on her part, as I'm sure this swift action saved the doors being dinged! God bless her! I think I'll get the front end re-aligned tomorrow as well, just to make sure everything is all okay.

I hope and pray each AUvian stays safe and well, both on and off the roads these Easter days.

Shalom,

GK

P.S Does anyone in the Northern or Western burbs of Melbourne happen to have a genuine AU left mirror in very good nick?

Thanks for that. Looks like the second-hand genuine item I may get for $48 is a good deal then.

Shalom,

Hi Justin,

Do you have the car at your place? If so, can I grab the mirror tomorrow? Also, how much for the grille insert (the bit with the Ford badge)?

Thanks for the mirror Justin. Nice to see you again.

Let me know when the boot liner will be delivered. I'm looking forward to getting it installed, as it's something I've wanted for the SR for a while.

Shalom,

GK

Not sure yet. The jury is still out on that point.

It appears that the address he gave is real, but it's yet to be determined if he actually lives there.

The mobile number he gave wasn't his.

The name and insurance company checked out, as I called them this morning, however they won't give out personal details.

I was advised by Just Cars to get it repaired and then sent him a letter of demand. I assume by that comment, she was telling me on the sly that the address was in effect his. Hope so.

So far it's cost me $50. I'm going to get a wheel alignment so say another $50, then I'll add $50 for buffing out the scuffs on the two doors and my petrol in running around. I'll send him a letter after the Easter holidays.

I reckon he's getting off lightly.

I guess even if he's done the dodgy, it hasn't cost me very much. It could have been a whole lot worse!
