Default Glass's guide and 2015 fgx xr8

What's everyone's thoughts?
Below average = $25300
Average = $29600
Above average = $35200
I can't see how you can get them for that price, maybe I'm wrong

Here is a list of FGX XR8's for sale on Carsales now -

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/for...?sort=%7ePrice

Nothing under $40,000.

My spotless XR8 with under 7,000 is apparently valued at $35,000 by the RACV. Show me one in that condition for that price and I'll buy it right now.

That's exactly what I'm thinking.

Are they in any way funded or sponsored by the insurance companies?

Come claim time you will be shafted $10k 'because that's what glass guide says it's worth'.

What was the other one they used? Red book?

What do their valuations say??

Lol $35k.

A couple of XR8s going in ACT and all are 50k+ between 50-60k kms. Most SS are high 40s to well over 50k.

When our insurance company wrote off our Territory a couple of years back after a gum tree branch fell on it , still perfectly drivable, just damage to most panels and one a-pillar they offered $35K at the time. I jumped on Carsales, couldn't find one anywhere near that price at the same km as our car, closest I got was $40500 for a car with 10,000 more km.

My simple reply was if they could buy a car identical to our one I'd take the money. Eventually their offer was $39,500 so I couldn't complain.

Speaking to my local Ford dealer (suburban Melbourne) salesman he confirmed second prices had definitely risen while new car sales had also jumped enormously and the dealership would no longer be eligible for Jobkeeper such was the improvement.

3 weeks ago mate claimed he sold 2017 VFII Redline ute to a wholesaler for $3.3k more than he paid for it new - I called BS, he proved with paperwork showing his initial purchase and recent sale. He had put 23000km on it. Said he switched insurance to Shannons about 18 months ago as his previous insurer would not allow him to insure for its 'true' market value.

I still think this is temporary though, and the last local Fords and Holdens will at some stage depreciate like 'normal'.
