Default Front Bar

I know you can get the T-series front bars but I was wondering if any one has done a BA/BF GT front bar to fit a AU? any info on this would be great.

cheers

Daniel

Here we go again.

Dok step right, step right up, front and center.

It can be done with a lot of stuffing around. Do a search and you will see.

Actually, that's a whole front end changeover - bonnet, lights, guards & front bar. But I'm sure I've seen a GT style front bar somewhere to fit an AU Fairmont/Forte. It may have been on an NZ car though, but surely someone in Oz would make a composite bar - sort of like the XR50 bar is a composite.

Shane (AUXR8220) did this chop for me. Its sort of what I'm going for but I think the GT front bar would look tuff.

That is BA1 GT style:

How about a GTS one? It's called the Brumby bar - the top half is all ford, and the lower part is VX GTS with the centre splitter removed, though you can get the splitter plus a lower lip as options.

I dont think I will go with the GTS bar I would rather keep it all Ford. I dont really like the look of that GTS bar anyway.

A MkII or BF GT bar will be the go I think. :evil3:

Better buy a BA/BF then. That blue one above is the closest i've seen to a GT bar for the AU. Then again, the GT bar is just an evolution of the T3 bar, so you could keep the whole AU theme going and fit one of them.

Well that could be the go too or I could see if one of the glass guys down my way can chop one up for me.

I will have a look at what AWC has to offer.

I'm of the "opinion" that the headlights will detract from any decent front bar on the AU (I do like AUXR8220's chop though) but to me the front still looks too "busy" but I came across this pic recently & it got my creative juices flowing......I was thinking more squaring up the guard & bonnet (setting the headlights back @2-3cm) anyone want to try a chop??

Those huge headlights kinda wreck the sportiness imo... Try painting the bezels. It masks the hugeness.

anyone wanna try a TS50 (or XR50) front bar onto a BA XR?
(keeping the BA XR lights so its really just the bottom bar that has been grafted)

Damn, i reccon the BA XR bar looks awesome on the AU! It looks similar to the TS-50 bar but more rounded off. So, how hard is it to fit one to an AU?

How hard? Impossible. Without major mods to either the bar, or the AU guards and grille and possibly bonnet. Doks car shows that it can be done, but not by just fitting the bar alone.

One e series guy I know of has fitted the rear BA bar, and the front BA lip to his e series bar (EFFalcon), but I don't know of any that have fitted a full BA XR front bar. For a start, the BA XR bar has the little dimples/cut-outs for the BA XR lights - no e series or AU came with those, so that is why I say fitment is impossible without modifications of some sort. And just because mutants (LOL) can do something, doesn't mean the rest of us can; I know a guy who can touch his forearm with the back of the hand on the same arm - I know if I tried that I would break my wrist!

whats the width difference between a BA and an AU?? dont they use the same/similar chassis?? just different outer shell etc??
because if sombody had a crack at plastic welding.. or got handy with fibreglass i dont see why they could not chop from the bump strip DOWN off a BA bar and graft it to the bump strip UP on the AU bar

True that, in fact bar fitment was the last thing on my mind after skirts, rails, rad support, bonnet, guards, radiator, condensor, airbox, with all that in place, the bar HAD to fit.

oh yeah, i dun forgot about dat one!! :P It would be nice if someone like awc came up with some sort of adaptation of the BA XR bar to fit, but as you mentioned, the effort required would far out weigh the demand i would say.

Plus the BA XR bar is not that special. The TS50 bar and XR50 kills it anyway, IMO. If you really mean BF GT/Typhoon bar, then , yes, they are aggressive and would suit the front of an AU, I reckon. But it would not be comercially viable to do it - just leave it to the Auto Salon boys to do first - they seem to have more money than sense.

Ok so if I go the TS50 bar do you think I can get away with the Tickford kit or should I go for the hole T kit?
