Exclamation Kuga!

I have noticed that the new Ford Kuga is not available on the Ford.au web site but it is on the New Zealand one. Is that weird or what.

Which is exactly why it should be sold here, right now. Or more correctly, why it should've been 2-3 years ago.

How bizarre, that shape Kuga was released in Europe in 2008 if I recall correctly.

The new gen one (to combine the Escape and Kuga) was revealed to motoring media a couple of weeks back.

They don't sell Escape in NZ, this would probably have a large part of the reason as to why the Kuga is there.

Also there is no clash of name badges with Toyota and Ford as Kluger is only known as Kluger in Australia; everywhere else it is called the Highlander.

With the current model Escape about to be "persona non grata" in Oztralia due to it not having Stability Control, Ford will be without a contender for this very important segment for quite some time. That's if it waits for the next generation Kuga/Escape to arrive in 2013.

I wonder if Ford would take a punt and bring the current Kuga in (call it a Kuga or call it an Escape) for a 12-18 month period? I guess that will depend on the expected release date for the new model. Food for thought.

I owned a territory and would not own another one due to rust.
I know that all companies have cost cutting but who would of thought that cutting out the application of underseal on a vehicle would have been one.
I was appauled when my territory failed its WOF due to rust in the rear above the muffler, in the seams.when i had a look i was not surrprised. NO underseal.
The rust (and ball joint) issues have hurt territory over here in NZ.

I am hopeing the KUGA dosnt suffer the same issues.
Its built in USA isint it?

Biggest differnce between AUST & NZ is that Ford would only need to import 5 or 6 per month for NZ, but would need to import over 1,000 per month for AUST.. That makes for very different sourcing problems!! Just a thought..

If ya say so, this thing will eat into territory sales especially with fleets, whether it comes with a diesel or not, territory, gas guzzling v6 Highlander, rav4 and Captiva were all in the top 10 new vehicle sales over here last month so I can't see this thing being a flop, saw one on a car transporter the other day, looks as bland as everything else out of Ford Eu, hopefully the Territory holds it's own.

You do know the current Kuga and the new model are built off the Focus platform so are fairly small. Its like comparing a full sized Land Cruiser to a Prado, yes ther are similar, but are in a completely differnt category.

Yet it's suppose to be the Escape replacement? The size of it won't stop it cannibalising Terry sales, just look at how the large and medium size segment has lost sales to crude small Asian shtbox SUVs over the past 10 years, Hyundai Tuscon etc.

Joe5619 sorry I took what you said the wrong way.

WOOOOOO!!!!

Although it's the 'old' model (which is still pretty damn good IMO), it would be GREAT for Ford to get into the compact SUV segment with this car and kick some goals. Finally.

IS that 5cyl motor the same as the XR5 Turbo motor?

Way better than the Escape, but you'd be pretty game to buy something that's going to be obsolete within 12 months!

I'll be interesting to see how this goes for them.

The FG2 has been in production since early November.

I'm happy Ford finally realised that waiting another 15 or so months for the new Kuga wasn't going to work.

But no diesel I'd assume they couldn't get supplies of it, considering how popular diesel is in Europe.
