Default AU XR6 LSD into Fairmont?

Will a complete LSD setup from an AU XR6 bolt straight into a Fairmont? If so, will there be any issues?

Cheers
Krissy

AUII_SE_Ute, so did you just swap the internals, into your 3.08 housing? Or did you swap the whole axles, etc..

Tnx

That's exactly what I want to do. Change over the complete setup. But I'm not knowlegdable in this area so that's why I thought I'd better find out if it can be done and without issue.

The guy selling the setup wants $500 for the lot. Is that a good price or??

Fairly sure.

AFAIK, make sure you get a Sedan diff. And make sure it's live axle, or IRS, whatever you may have.

Other than that, make sure the gears are in good condition, and the LSD. And it should be all good.

$500 sounds like a reasonable price. You can get new gears & LSD fitted for $1100. So not too bad.

I'd re-think that. Down here in Preston in Melbourne, it's $350, drive in-drive out for LSD.

That's a good price. I paid $1000 supply and fitted within an hour and a half.

I'm pretty sure XR6 diffs have the ABS rings, unsure about IRS.

LSD's have a metal tag on the fill plug saying it's a High Performance Diff (can't remember word for word). The other way to find out is to jack up the rear end and turn one wheel. If the other wheel moves in the same direction, it's LSD. If it's opposite, single spinner.

Well, if I wanted LSD, it'd cost me about $350 fitted. And this is from a company, who has a diff under every done up car around here.

Just letting you know, maybe get a 2nd quote.

Traction control would do the same job as an LSD wouldn't it?
