A good friend at work is always going on about how quick he's new BF xr6 goes and how much better they look then the au's and so on.
So after a heated conversation in regards to performance of various models through out the falcon's over the years and why would i be interested in doing up an au falcon when i should just buy a better model like the BF as it would cream any au xr6's outthere.. : Well there's only one way to tell and you put money wear your mouth is!!!!!! In the end we agreed $50.00 that my au futura (not even xr6) would beat his BF xr6 to 100kph from standing start??? Well just so happened he went home unable to sleep and $50.00 less in his wallet. I actually cant believe that i beat him by 1 1/2 car lengths and still pulling untill i backed off at 100kph : Just prove's who said they intech 6's can't go !!! |

Was his BF an auto or man i assume auto, 4 or 6sp depends on what mods etc aswell and the AU would be a tad lighter aswell

But if you look the AU had a modified air inatake, 2.5" exhaust and extractors.
Put this against a stock auto BA XR6, plus anything else like wheel size and it is easily done. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=60412

One and a half car lengths is heaps! That would equate to a few tenths over a 1/4 mile. I thought the 6spd auto BF XRs would be quick. That must be one healthy AU you've got there.

Great, another prove nothing thread.
AU FUTURA wouldnt come close to a BF XR6 Six speed. End of story.

But the fact is that not all is lost for the old single OHC six thats all we are trying to state !!!! I'd be offended too if i bought 30+k BF xr6 to get squashed by an older OHC six .. But it does happen |

im not sure what gear ratios they run in the zfs, but one advantage to having a very long first gear in an au is that from 1-100 it only has to change gear once, as the autos can do 70+ in first

the zf has very short ratios but runs silly diff gears like 2.7's or something check the ford.com.au site they got details there.
