Default Stuffups In News Reports

Quote:
Up to 600 people stand to lose their jobs if Ford goes ahead with a scheme to stop manufacturing the Falcon V6 engine.
I didn't even realise they'd even STARTED to make a Falcon V6, did I miss something?

Full story - http://www.news.com.au/business/stor...-31037,00.html

But instead of discussing the actual story and stuff, I love when journalists stuff up like this - so any other stuffups on reputable websites, let's have them!

LOL I've seen some of the stuff people do with text on ASCII sites. Some of the stuff is quite amazing (not necessarily just pr0n either).

Sorry, was just slightly bored, and find it amusing when Journalists stuff up.

Or when the news websites run ads next to stories that probably shouldn't be there, from memory a couple are:

A story about an aboriginal kid dying after sniffing petrol - ad down the side was for a rental car company with "FREE FUEL" in big letters.

A story about a CNN Journalist getting killed in the Middle East - ad on the right was a job ad - the job being Journo in the Middle east.

I was looking on the K&N website the other day and they have it down as a V6. It's only a small mistake really.

I just read the original story on news.com.au and though some will say its a typo I'm not sure. Don't you think they'd write "6 cylinder engines" rather than "V6 engines"? Its almost like the journo believes the engines made at Geelong are V6's.

When I read things like that it makes me wonder what other parts of the story are incorrect.

Just read another article, http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599...-29277,00.html which states:
Quote:
600 jobs may be axed if Ford closes its V6 engine plant and opts to import the engines for its Falcon range.
Also, I'm sorry I meant to put this in "The Bar" and I just realised its in "The Pub". Apologies.

Never fear, there IS a fix!!! I think its in the options somewhere you can "add dictionaries" to it, and it has an Australian English one that you can download and install to be the default. Only a couple of hundred kb.

Ford has been making the Falcon V6 engine at its plant in Geelong since 1926.
So what the hell did they do with the 36 year build up of Falcon engines before the Falcon was introduced?

We had the Chief of the Airforce just come to RAAF base wagga, (a training base for people trainning for a technical trade such as avionics, etc) and the local paper said that he was there for all 1200 recruits. I thought that s*** was behind me... guess not. Also refered to new recruits as students....

So? You are a recruit, and you are studying so you are a student.

LOL at the V6. Maybe Ford have secretly been supplying Holden with their engines - explains why they get decent power out of them.

No, recruits are people that have not yet completed recruit trainning, students or trainiees are those that have completed recruit trainning, and are studying for their trade. The newspaper got the two swapped around.

KRock Geelong actually had ground breaking news that Ford Australia will cease producton of the V6 Engine. Media is all wrong once again, nothing new there. I guess thats why i listen to Gold 104. Good time oldies, takes me back to a time where life was a lot simpler.
