Default Turning my Handbreak cover black

I want it to be matt black to match the shifter.

Had anyone done this ???

Would i be best to dye it, or paint it ?

Any suggestions on where to get it done.

Or go to the wreckers and get a black leather one with a chrome button. Cost $65 for mine.

Damn, that was a good deal chief! I've been quoted $180 from the wreckers, and they never have them anyway! Where about's was that you got yours if you don't mind my asking?

paint it with the dye paint.... but MAKE SURE you clean it well with wax and grease remover or it will flake off.... also i found the best thing to do is do a few more coats in places where you will be touching it the most, it will last longer.

Git it from Macathur Parts Plus in Narellan (outskirts of Sydney) Bought a whole bunch of stuff and got a discount. Steering coloum cost $20.

Plus I need to get parts to finish my dashboard conversion.

Funnily enough, I was inspired by chief to try again for a leather handbrake, made 2 phone calls, the second guy had one, black leather with chrome button, straight up said $65! The same place that told me a couple of months ago that it'd be $180 odd. Strange, but no complaints here!

I don't have a TORX bit big enough to unbolt the driver's seat ... as that needs to come out to run the cable through the floor and bolt the ratchet in (got the entire brake ratchet/handle and boot)

Simon I have a torx bit set you can borrow.

The way I installed mine was to leave the existing cable in there and unsrew the ratchet. Then put the cable into the new ratchet and secure ratchet to the car. A bit of playing around and the cable is tight.

Hmmmm ... interesting.
Thanks for that Chief.

I have a Torx bit set ... just hasn't got a T50 bit in it.
Might have to bring the ute up to your place and pull it apart
