Default Ford F-100 Eluminator: Electric truck revealed at SEMA

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-new...vealed-at-sema

Quote:
Forget about the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T, there’s a new electric truck in town.

The Ford F-100 Eluminator is a concept truck showcasing the Blue Oval’s electric ‘crate’ motor. The concept is based on a 1978 F-100, but has two electric motors for a combined 360kW of power and 860Nm of torque.
The potentials are enormous ...if only I had kept our old XW Falcon 500 wagon...

Just found this: $USD obviously, but imagine not having to worry about old radiators, exhausts, keeping the old 3.6L XW Falcon engine tuned...and dragging off most things around....if you put two motors in

Ford has started selling an electric crate motor based on the one that powers the GT version of the Mustang Mach-E. The “Eluminator e-crate motor” makes 281 horsepower, 317 pound-feet of torque, and costs $3,900.

Very clean build, looks good.
I like this resto mod with electric motors. Means a lot more classic stuff can be driven around more often, even as a daily driver, leaving the ICE classic as a weekend car.

For the savy tuners out there Id be skilling up and offering the service for sure.

Still seems to be a legal mine field with home conversions etc

seems an interesting alternative to me
and if the price is comparable , well its then also a competitive alternative
and if they start re building old classic ev's off the production line id even consider saving for another to add to the stable

I wonder if they'll still force you to do the emissions test here in VIC to get it engineered

$2000 for our 5 minute test thank you.

It looks cool, but I just can't get excited by this. It would be heaps cooler with a Coyote under the hood.

Wrecked an old classic in my opinion, interior looks like trash.

With that said its very cool to see ford and chev offering these electric packages for the diy guy who wants to have a bit of a play and do something custom. Way better attitude then old elon and the other automakers so far. The only big draw back I see with these conversions is lack of range as you can't fit a big enough battery in them as apposed to a car designed around being electric from the start.

But thats all been done, this is topical, executed very well and the flavour of the month that doesnt seem to be going away in a hurry; quite the opposite.

Imagine daily'ing that instead of some other EV, yes please!

I posted this article into the Tesla thread, but it may be of some interest to those in this thread, too.

Converting classic cars to electric vehicles is booming in popularity

Lot of these older cars will need chassis reinforcements with the huge torque on offer with these electric motors especially if they try to retain the driveline from the ICE. Having the electric motors at the front or rear in a RWD/FWD or AWD setup where the motors are in the same place as the driven wheels would reduce a little of that twist through the driveline.

I love the concept though!

Apparently it's an effie body over a Mach E chassis.

Here is another one. Been lots of hate over this one. Its definitely not a simple drop in conversion.

Yeah a lot of people not liking the fact they have taken a really iconic magazine project car, with many different configurations over the last few decades, and whored it out to corporate GM as an EV.
