It is.... its got about 3500kms on it. I'd say thats 3500 hard, binary throttle, binary braking style kilometers.

Wow

I thought all dealers ended up selling their demo cars ages ago.

I'd say this was a dealers demo car... judging by the date of first rego.

Their has been a couple second hands cars running about though.
Lithgow from the xr5turbo forums had to sell his up, a dealer ended up picking it up off him. He was selling it for 38k i believe in the end. Was perf blue with red calipers.

Im from Nowra, where this car is from and my dad and bf both work at the Ford dealership where this car comes from. It was driven by the Dealer Pricipal and his wife and they wouldnt have thrashed it. Prob only local k's. I got my car from there ( 04 Fiesta Zetec) which was a demo and had 5000 k's on it- no probs!

The only thing you would have to worry about if it was thrashed are the breaks cos they need time to bed in propery or they buckle and get flat spots all over them from the high heat. The engine would be fine.

Also, come to think of it, they wouldnt sell a car with dodgy breaks at a dealer anyways

I came across this big technical website where this mechanic tried to prove the best way to bed in a new engine was to thrash it.

Showed all the pistons of heaps of different engines he tested the theory on. Was pretty informative.

I think current engines are built differently. You are prob right to give it some if the car is warm.

Jess I could see this happening.
My local dealership had their own XR5 as well. They used it for themselves and as a demo car. They too ended up selling it once the supply of cars dried up and they could flog off demo cars for 46g's without leather.

If you want it... you gotta pay for it

Sold! A lucky member of the XR5 turbo forum who has been waiting a long time for his car (and being messed around by the Sales rep) has snapped it up.

Congrats mate! However, trust me when I say that you won't be selling it in a hurry - these cars are just too damn good to sell, even at a profit! In fact, even if someone offered me 45k for mine tomorrow, I'd politely tell them to sod off :

You'd also find it very hard to flog it off for 43 or more.
A member on XR5turbo found it hard selling his for 37!

I'd rather buy this...

http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.demo_vehicle?vehicle_id=3459725&curren t_rec=1&total_rec=2&sort_type=1&make_id=6&model_id =4154&keyword=XR5&state_id=-1&search_distance=25

That performance blue is an awesome color, i would rather pay the extra paint cost for that instead of that orange . I love blue, most of my past cars have been blue and ford had to bring out the ugliest blue color i have ever seen on the focus. Thats why i went with the black
