Default AU XR6 Vs Magna Altera

ok...

in a few weeks im heading up to heathcote with a mate of mine for a day at heathcote.

for thos who dont know i have au series 2 xr6 5 speed man. its pretty much stock, but will have a 2.5 inch exhuast by the time the day comes.

my mate has a 97 mits magna te altera. its got a 2.5 inch exhaust, 5 speed converted manual, and k and n panel filter.

it might sound like a stupid question but who would win...i would think the au would get up easy but really not sure...

cheers

You'll be right mate.

You will beat him off the mark (especially if it's a VCT with IRS) and have plenty more top end.

That's my experience anyhow...

depends if its all wheel drive too, if so it may give you a bit of a run for your money, but XR6 will win in the end, so you have nothing to worry about

I actually think the magna (if its a 3.5) will beat you, at least up to 80km/h anyway. There first gear is so low they just launch from the lights.

The drag strip is 400m long. 80km/h is achieved around 1/2 way, after which the XR should have him.

yeah once you hit 3rd you will be well passed him, but if he has any Ralliart stickers on it, thats a guaranteed 30kw boost, so watch out : lmao

He is only a 3 litre. You will beat him no probs. I reckon the difference will be about 8 tenths. People can bag Magnas all they like, but they crap all over Falcons in every way except the end from which they're driven!

The TE was on the 3L as mentioned ... not as good ast the TH onward models with the 3.5L.

If you were up against a TJ though ... you'd have issues.

Have driven a TJ Series II VRX manual .... and damn they move very quickly indeed ... and launch quite well too. Can be a surprise packet indeed.

As mentioned ... don't underestimate a 3.5L Magna.
But you should be fine against a 3L

Youll beat it easy as said before it will only be a 3.0l with around 140kw (plus 5 for mods i suppose) and seeing as yours is manual youll have no probs. In fact your Au should beat standard 3.5's as well, the only Magna id be worried about would be a Sport/VRX 3.5 or a Ralliart.

Your XR6 would absolutely smash his Altera. Don't underestimate the VRX versions though, they are seriously fast in manual form.

your on the money there JC, I went up against a vrx at willowbank not long ago. The magna only lost about 1/2 a car length by mid track, but once I was in 3rd gear I started to pull away and got him by 2 lengths..I did a 15.25 or something close to that.
