According to the Ford Focus Owners Club UK forums, the petrol fuel pump is a within-tank pump. It is not easily accessible.

Its actually the fuel filter im chasing not the fuel pump.
Had a look under the car and there is a lot of fire proof panelling. Im thinking its under one of those. Cheers. |

Ah crap, I actually meant to type 'fuel filter,' not 'fuel pump.'
Here is the exact quote off the site: "Hi, the fuel filter is in the tank, it is all one big module: pump,filter sender unit,etc. They have a service interval of 100k miles, so won't need changing for normal reasons." |

Our 2006 LS Focus recently received its 60K service. The service book stated that the fuel filter needed to be changed. My mechanic was unable to find a serviceable fuel filter on the car. He called Ford and they confirmed what DZFord has posted above.

I Know that the 2002 Focus fuel filter is under the left-hand side of the vehicle. Closer to the LRW. And an absoblute pain in A** to change, due to a number of lines that need moving before you can access the thing.

I know this is bringing up and old thread...this is what i get for doing a search. I now wish I looked it up before I bought a fuel filter. I turned to this search after I could not find the filter after looking high and low for it.
I went to Ford the other week to buy one as my sisters LS Focus has 60,000kms and I thought I better do a fuel filter this time round. Thinking it would have been as easy as it is on the Falcon. Seeing as thought Ford sold me the part and the number is AFG68MC. I have the part so I might as well change it, I just need to find the time for it now it seems, plus I think I should have access to a hoist soon. If I pull the tank out from under the car should it just be a straight swap? Does anyone have access to the factory repair manual with a scanned page just to show what it all looks like up there? |
