Default Tickford Rotors

Quick question. For anyone who owns an AU with the premium brake package, what kinda Kays are you getting out of your pads and rotors before having to buy new ones?

Fronts only.

Had them on the Tseries, I think from the brain bank I got about 30000ks, & both pads & rotors were ro%ted. Front only rears were fine. But I took both off & fitted Brembos.

BTW nudie, I wouldn't put the Ford rotors back on again, besides being over priced they ware way to fast, get some DBAs there much better....

The DBA's in Canberra have worked out dearer than the tickford rotors. I've been quoted anywhere from $415 to $495 per rotor for DBA's. Tickfords I found for $380

Dosen't sound right? but if it is, it will still work out better because the DBAs will last a lot longer.. Ya with me?? What ones did you price? the ones the guys in the T series run are the DBA slotted on shaynet"s car, & X drilled & slotted on TS50s car. Both are very happy with them. I think the X drilled & slotted were about $650 a pair....Give them a PM they'll give ya all the guff on them...

Why does it cost so much in Canberra for parts. $650 a pair I would be real happy with. I think I need to order them from interstate.

Who did you get your quote through??? I got the Gold series DBA's cross drilled and slotted for around the $290 per rotor.
To answer your other question on life of the rotors i got abot 55,000 out of my fronts, the rears are still fine at 70,000

Cheers

I contacted a few brake places. Auto Torque was one place as well as ACT Brakes and Autoco and of course McGraths for the tickfords.

So $290 each. I knew you got yours at a great price, and I think you have the same brake package on your Pursuit as I do on my car.

I've just clocked over to 56,000, and the fronts are just about shot. Rears seem fine, well thats what Shaun at McGraths Belco told me.

Thanks Hoops

I'll get em a call tommorrow and see how I go.

I rang auto pro today. They quoted me $520 each for the 506's. For that price, they must have magical stopping powers.

With the DBA's, you can get those machined?. I think the tickfords are non machinable

I went to a brake shop Newcastle with my so call non machinable rotors. They checked the width of the rotors and told me they could machine them. This is after changing them all over to DBA rotors. Oh well!
Just for the record don't get bendix ultimate pads unless your going to the track. They chew your rotors out badly!
I have bendix advance pads in the TS50 and they've been in for 30000km now and still no lip on my rotors or brake dust.

I've been told that about the bendix ultimates. Maybe they need to driven hard to do their job. I'm not sure what pads I'll get, but as I don't do track work or drive the car hard, just want something that is kind to the rotor and will last.

Funny how ford says one thing, and others say something else. I was told the same thing about the tickford rotors, can't be machined. But my mate had a look at them and said he can't see why not. Mine are undersized now with a very healthy lip on the edge. SO I think Machining is out of the Question. 56,800 I'm at now.

I'm keen on a low dust pad.

I have DBA 4506 with Bendix Advance (part # DB1353 AD). No dust, no squealy brakes, and no wear on rotors from about 20'000km's with this set up. Am I happy, you bet!

The DBA 4506's are a damn good rotor.. way, way, way better than the Tickford set up and the DBA standard 506's. Bucky, give John Margheriti of Cebco Brakes a call, you can get a set of DBA 4506 delivered to your door for under $800 easy. PM me if you want more info. Also, DBA's got some good news to come for AU owners with Premium brakes in the next few weeks.

My 4506s cost, ~$310/ea. I am actually running Bendix Ultimates up the front, and omg they work real well. But dirty's the crap out of my wheels. I think they'll be getting changed soon.

I run the DBA 4000 slotted rotors witha Ferado pad which is what the DBA motorsport rep recommended.

Work nice and would be half way between the Bendix Ultimates and the Advance pads in terms of dust and wear on the rotors

Waiting with baited breath for the AU Premium brake release mentioned by AUGZMK

Being in the Aftermarket I have used many brands over 20yrs...I have used DBA slotted since they came on the market and they have never let me down, pads is another storey and so many varying opinions its ridiculous.
O' Nude one just over the weekend I put on another set of DBA's the 4000 range and like shaynet the current Ferodo Performance pad.
Now prior to the change I already had slotted but the old DABGold style, gone through 3 sets of pads, Ultimates (too damn dusty but pull up great) Advance (much less dust which I wanted but pulled up shyte) lastly the current Lucas pad, up to 800f good pad but again quite dusty.
The Ferodo's have impressed me, still not bedded in (only done weekend family drive around) and they bite great, can't wait till there bedded in as I expect these to really do the business.
Will be with a few 3fb boys this coming Friday so I expect to give the setup a good testing !!

Mines a 6, so I think I only need 1 rotor and pad. :

The ferodo sounds interesting. Genebaby tells me the Ultimates chew out the rotor, so maybe best to go for the Advance. But Ferodo sounds interesting. If you've tried em all, then I'm thinking Ferodo could be the go if your happy with them.

When I got my car it had the standard premium package on it. So I'm not sure what type of pads they are. They have left me with a lip on the outer edge. When I complained of noise and squealing, Ford took the pads out, grooved the edge of the pad and put them back on.

I'm running EBC Green V4 pads and am happy with them. (apart from one set of fronts that broke their clips)
Initial bite is hard.
No fade even on track days.
Very Low dust.
Reasonable cheap.

Next set of pads though I will try out the Cebco Street pads as they have been highly recomended.

The only guy to get Brembos, is the importer. Barry Smith Motorsport. Thats were every brake joint will get them, so cut out the middle man & get them yourself. He has the full T3 Brembo brake package...You wont be sorry......

Want the PBR kit, still waiting but couldn't avoid this change as it was due (front rotors were thin as and pads finished),and shuddering so this set up just passed along.
