Default 19x9.5" on rear of AU XR8

G'day Guys,

Mate of mine os ordering some 19" Zenetti Kaotiks for his AU XR8 sedan. They are going to be 19x8" up front with 235/35's so thats no problem, but on the rear he's going with 19x9.5" with 265/30's. Now on the phone to the Rim shop they said the extra 1.5" in the width goes to the inside. I am abit unsure of this, so im just wondering if anybody has had any experiences running 9.5" wide on the rear of an AU, especially the Zenetti Kaotiks as they may have a different postioning of the extra width.

It runs on Dobinsons super lows so its fairly slammed, heres a pic to give an idea. This is with the old 19x8" Speedy Octanes.

I ran 9" on the back of a wagon, and sedan, and clearance was tight (both were lowered), but I think you'll find only 1/2 of the extra 1.5" goes to the inside, so it should be OK.

Jeff,

If you want to lower it a lot, get the 1.5" to the inside as suggested. A good calculator to determine OFFSET/BACKSPACING vs actual effect on tire position is HERE. This is setup to show the offset of 52mm(suggested) vs 36mm(stock) required on a 9.5" rim vs an 8" rim to keep the outside of the tyre face in the standard location.

My advice is to measure the amount of room you have on the outside and decrease the offset from 52mm, to widen out the rear stance of the car. AU's always look undertyred at the rear, and the rear track is actually narrower than the front (BA's are wider at the rear, helping them look "fatter" across the back end.

Hope this helps.

Daniel

Dont worry dude they will fit

Im sure they have the same offset as my wheels which are AU offset and i have 35mm hub adaptors on my EF XR8 with 265/30 and can fit 275 no probs and its low.

Ive seen my wheels on BA's before so if there the same which im pretty sure of they will be fine

glennBA (think thats his nickname now) had a red au with 9.5s on the rear with no issues

ive also seen a wagon getting round brisbane with 9.5s on the rear(larger dish than the fronts gives it away)

Cheers guys. Daniel after what you were saying about the rear of the AU's looking "undertyred" i can really see what you mean now. Hopefully the 9.5's on the rear will fill that out abit more.
Should be one tuff looking AU when its done.

If the offsets are perfect for the car (custom) you will get 285's under there all day long, with 3 people on the back seat. I've got 315's on the rear that will foul the outside fender, but if I took 25mm off the outside, it would clear everywhere.
