Update SYNC 3 software v3.0, 18351, to v3.4, 20136
My 2019 SA Focus menu says when connected to Wi-Fi you can select “automatically” update, or “search” for an update. These functions in fact do not work in my car and Ford Oz suggested I update using a USB and did not respond to the non- functioning Wi-Fi updates. A brief search on-line indicates the Wi-Fi automatically/search function does not currently work in the UK either for their equivalent version of the SA Focus, the Mk4 Focus. To download from USB you need to first log into or sign up for an owner account at the Ford OZ website and then select SYNC 3 update download. They will then send you a ZIP file that you open and save to a USB (Ford say min 8GB). To install the update the motor must be running. Start the motor and plug the USB into a USB port. It took about 35 minutes to install and I was driving during the install. Initially, the Satnav would not work and an error message appeared advising the car needed to be taken to a dealer to rectify the problem, however, after stopping and starting the engine a few times the Satnav starting working properly. Once the update is installed Ford will send a message requesting you advise them of a successful update through the Update & Customise section of your account. This section does not exist in my account. The process was, Go to Owners Section/Log-in to My Dashboard/My Ford Profile/Update SYNC/Download Ready/scroll down to find Report Installation/browse for the required xme file/Report installation. This is done so they can advise you of future software updates. A couple of wrinkles but it worked. Saved a trip to the dealer.

Think I'll wait until I get a service, and let the dealer do it. It's due for its 15,000km service in the next weeks.

I have an SA Active and only recently updated SYNC from 3.3 to 3.4 via USB method. Had no issues and it was completed in around 20-30 minutes.
The matter regarding the maps not appearing soon after updating is pretty much the norm. It seems to take a while for everything to reset itself and my maps returned to normal after 20 minutes. It's not like you're not warned about it. A screen message appears just before the update starts alerting you that some features may not be immediately available after the update. As for updating SYNC OTA, it seems some users have had success doing it this way, but it takes a long long time. The USB method is speedier. |

Picked up an ex-demo 2019 SA Trend hatch last week and I updated from Sync 3.3 to Sync 3.4 via WiFi. No problems at all except having to get used to the new graphical layout. Some parts didn't work immediately after the upgrade but everything came back online within the hour.

A Sync 3 software update for the SA focus is now available. The updated is dated 02/05/21, V3.4, build 21020.
No problems. Havent noticed any changes but something may emerge in a day or so when it all settles in.

interesting. Build 21020 was the latest available to me when I requested an update via the Ford Dashboard a few days ago. I am aware that Build 21098 was available for Focus Mark 4 in Europe last May.Where did you find update Build 21098. Thanks

It’s all very odd, I got 21020 wifi download then a few weeks later I got 21098, ones wifi update, I logged on to ford owner, and it was recorded as latest version. 21098 is much better on the wifi and Bluetooth connectivity, wifi is very quick in connection now. I think quicker on DAB stations selection. Seems more stable

I've just done this. Luckily, the above posts warned me about the maps taking a while to come back or I would have thought I'd done something wrong.

No updates since then. Has Ford dropped support or is there nothing worth updating?
Dealer told me they did a Sync update at my June service but literally no change in build number so either it was a low level update that wouldn’t show on that screen or they lied?
