Default Auto Trans cooling lines install

Hi All

Anyone done this? Any tips?

My car au s1 wagon trans seemed to overheat today. Would stall when any gear selected.
Had a look and appears the cooling lines just loop to each other on the radiator and not to the trans but can't seem to see any external cooler.
To dark to see what is happening on the trans side.
I suspect previous owner removed the external cooler before sale.

Thanks Mick

Hi Mick,

the lines going to the radiator is correct. The transmission cooler is in the radiator although adding an external cooler is very popular with AU owners.

The first thing I would be checking is your transmission oil level - which is fun because there is no dip stick. You check it via the filling plug in the side of the transmission.

cheers
Keith

if I understand you correctly there is just a small loop connecting the 2 lines from the transmission. if this is the case the transmission has no cooling connected. do not drive it till you put a cooler in . the looped line at the radiator probably means the cooler lines in the radiator have coolant leaking into them so they used the loop to stop coolant loss

Thanks guys.
Know is it just some hose needed or is there specific kit ford uses?
Some pics would be great if anyone has them ti show which way the hose is fed through to the trans.

Cheers Mick

you have 2 metal lines running from the transmission just buy an aftermarket transmission cooler and hook it up
