Quote:
Total new-car sales in August 2020 were down nationally by 28.8 per cent compared with the same month the previous year, with 60,986 vehicles reported as sold versus 85,633 in August 2019.

It was the 29th month in a row of year-on-year decline – the longest continuous slump since the Global Financial Crisis – and the weakest August result in 23 years, since 1997. It amounted to the third worst sales month so far this year.

Year-to-date, new-car sales are down by 20.4 per cent compared to the first eight months of 2019, with 575,906 vehicles reported as sold so far in 2020.

My predictions of a crash for Hilux were spoton. I will never undrestand why Toyota held dealers back from selling updated hilux till the 28th of August when there was stock on the ground. Dumb move imho.

Rav 4 Hybrid is a huge stand out.

Apparently Ford only expect to sell around 12 Phev Escapes a month.... Shows how much confidence they have in the product.

I think the rav-4 is a bit of a inflated figure. Toyota Aus secured more stock to help fulfill back orders which over the past 2 months are coming through. I think these figures will drop off eventually.

But I may be wrong. We shall see.

100% they had a huge catch up. My cousin ordered one in March and got it last month. Just looking at the local dealers stock of Hybrids at the moment they definitely got a decent allocation int he last few weeks.

Because they priced it too high and didn't bring in a hybrid version similar to the Rav4...not everyone can rely on a plug in hybrid for their EV.

Hmmm if New model Isuzu d max is a sales success and reduces Ranger sales Means Kay Hart got out before a sales number slump.
I know Vic is in lockdown but Ffs 99 sales for Focus?
Or is it a stock supply issue?

The Endura numbers seem to be up a little bit this month I think.
I have seen quite a few around lately and I have to say I really like the way they look. I know nothing about them though.

Vic being in shutdown for 6 weeks won't help any of the numbers really, we still have 2 more weeks with a further rumour of 2 more further ahead,
A friend of mine is picking up her x trail today which she ordered pre lockdown, sadly for her as the dealer is more than 5ks from her home she has to risk the fine to get it, the dealer won't deliver as it's not deemed a essential service either.
Would be interesting to see the breakup of sales numbers per state as a comparison tbh.

They have priced it much higher to compete with Ranger and Hilux.

I would be surprised if they actually managed to increase sales based on that. It previously sold on price. Not sure how increasing the cost of some models by up to 9k will damage those sales to customers looking for a cheaper alternative to the big 2.

I’d be telling the dealer to go and get... you know what

Every Endura I have seen are Ford hire cars. Out of those 99 probably 10 are actually sold to normal people

I was reading an article that Subaru are pulling the pin on the Liberty at production end such is the way the sales are going these days. Basically replaced by the Outback. There is some argument that the Impreza/WRX is big enough as a sedan which is BS IMO.

You can get an Impreza sedan which as about gen3/4 Liberty in size now. Son's friend has Liberty sedan and it is a big car.

I'm quite excited about future Suby's, new Outback on the way with turbo 2.4 XT, new Levorg on the way as well with bigger 1.8 turbo as base, update XV inbound. The already good AWD system gets dual X mode which seems pretty capable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L79WfJlfXXQ

and dual X mode in snow

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U4WLc2V-LM

quite like the black wheels on their Onyx pack in the States.

Do we have any new generation Yaris sales in the mix yet, given that only AFL stars, insta influencers and senior public servants can afford to buy it now?

there's some juicy copy in that CA headline and byline:

"The Toyota RAV4 has topped the sales charts for the second month in a row, and the hybrid version alone outsold every other vehicle on the market in August."

That's pretty significant, time to celebrate with a song:
