Default anyone want to buy my xr8

i havnt had much luck in selling my xr8, i lowered the price to $16,000 which means im loosing big time, and still no one really seems interested.

there is not to many cars out there that would compare to mine for 16,000.
am i still asking to much?

i mean au2 xr8's are a great car, and i would of thought held there value.
how many cars can u get for $16,000 with 200rwkw and are as nice as an au2 xr with all the comfy features like leather and premium sound?

I think we're a dying breed, we all know what a good car they are. Redbook say you would be getting less than $10k on trade in! Naturally yours would get more, but you could pick up a BA XR6 turbo for not much more.

Unfortunately we are now spoilt for choice on quality used cars.

Probably because of the leather and the manual. Tell you what I'll take the manual and leather interior off you and you can have my luxurious cloth interior and auto.

haha nah gotta keep the comfy seats, and the manual id fall asleep if it was auto.

put it in the advertiser, trading post, on here, on mfc forum, fordfans forum, street fords, and sent some emails. had a few phonecalls one guy came and checked it out and took it for a test drive but they all are just time wasters.

mate i wish you the best of luck, 8's seem to be hard to sell. The best offer i had for my AUII 347ci GHIA was 17000. Thats with cusoim leather interior, AP racing brake kit 347 wheezer etc etc. Unless u can find someone that falls in love with the car i reakon it's hard to move any V8 thanks to lovely petrol prices

Fair Point, i was just pointing out why he may be having troubles moving his XR8 for 16k. Personally i wouldn't let my car go for that money so i kept it...

Wait till the new model comes out / gets near you will be offered even less as more and more cars fall onto the used market, might be better to call a small loss now and move on than run a bigger loss in the near future.

i think the reason most au dont sell are for simple reasons, u can get a ba for that price. why downgrade to an au when u can get a ba/bf?

to be honest im in the same boat. im 21 i want a house, not gonna get shiz for my au so im keeping it till im 50 yr old. if not till the house is paid and ill get a new car.

but im in a slightly beter situation i dun have a fuel guzling v8.

My older brother is coming onto the market in the next few months, wanting an AU2-3 XR8, preferably with goodies such as leather etc...

I've told him about your one for sale, but he is reluctant to go to SA... I told him he's nuts because for $16k its a damn good buy in my opinion, regardless of if its in another state!

In his opinion, he could either get an immac late model AU XR8 with plenty of options, or a base model BA2 - BF... He's leaning towards the AU...

It's a nice looking XR8 AURX8220 and a few years ago I would have been dying to own it. It was exactly what I was after, manual, leather, and even a great colour!

But BA's are so cheap now and there are so many out there the prices are being driven into the ground. And while it may be a great car and maybe a great model over all, most people just see it as being a 6 year old, previous generation, used car. I'm sure the VT, VX boys are having the same problem. And those poor Magna owners, theres no hope in sight for them lol.

Keep trying - you'll sell it. Put it on carsales.com as well. Its a manual in a nice colour with leather and sensible mods at a good price - you don't need to go much lower if at all. Try your local community pinup boards, put "for sale - $16500" subtly on your rear windows and market, market, market.

I'm an absolute tighta*se when I buy cars and that car at that price would even spark my interest if it was in Perth.

Whilst I reckon BA/BF Turbos are the best cars Ford Oz has made, I think the 220kw AUs (and T series) are a much more engaging drive than the BA/BF V8s. The steering, the sound, the genuine muscle car rortiness and the chuckable dynamics.

Good luck!

Mark

yeah its best if you aim and stick to an enthusiasts market. Only people looking for something different and unique will pay the extra dough. the everyday joe bloggs will do you over just like powered toast man said.

Very cheap at that price . Courtney & paterson of Bundoora Melbourne has an Au 3 xr8 220 5 speed 1 owner 115.000 k's black (comes with the one of swirl effect, need to spend 4 nights hand polishing it) no lether no premium sound for $20.000.
Neat car though!
