Just read that Nissan's Dualis replacement in Australia will be renamed "Qashqai". Who in their right state of mind thought that this ridiculous name would be suitable for the Australian market? Great way to kill your own sales Nissan! (Not that I care)

Secondly, I find it extremely sad that all car makers seem do be dishing out these days are a heap of soulless and generic SUV's. If you removed the Nissan badges from this vehicle, you could put just about any other badge on it and nobody would know the difference.

Oh, and Ford called, they want their Focus sedan tail lights back.

Nissan are doing some very odd things lately! No diesel in new Patrol & Pathfinder & now this thing! All on top of dropping the successful Pulsar name a few years back before returning it again.
I believe Nissan make some very fine cars that are equal to or better than their Toyota rivals but dumb decisions like this just hands more sales to Toyota on a platter.
Shame really because I do like the Nissan brand!

Seems the euros have been calling it Qashqai for years.

Nissan NZ pronounces it "Cash-Kai". The name change didn't seem to make them any less popular than they were (not very). Nothing like what Tiida did to Pulsar.

With all the marketing they put into the Dualis brand, why would they throw it all away? Unless they have some big marketing lined up, I think this might hurt them. You'd think they would have learned their lesson after they chucked out the Pulsar brand for no reason, only reinstate it years later after sales tumbled because nobody knew what a "Tiida" was. Oh Nissan.

Im an old ford man for lots of years ,but my daughter bought a new tida a few years ago and its a lovely little car to drive ,plenty of room inside and enough power for what it is ,its not a good looking car but practical ,i found the fuel economy was a bit high with 4 people in it but other that that a good little car ,lot better car to drive than the little toyoto my sister bought new

They must have found some new brand of mind altering substances over at Nissan to think this is a good idea. Car names throughout history that have been difficult to pronounce have universally bombed or spend their entire life span being mispronounced.

It was only very recently that I actually heard someone who apparently knew pronounce the Touareg (Twar-egg) name which was actually correctly pronounced by them and no one else I've ever heard with the misfortune to have to do so.

Mind you we've managed a few ourselves - Nagari, Illinga spring to mind.

The Tiida's problems extended to more than the name change from Pulsar, they were an ugly, ugly hunk of junk. It was a huge backwards step from Pulsar. I don't think it would have sold very well even if they did call it Pulsar.

Just look at the new Pulsar anyway, it's not a very good car either, and it hasn't sold very well either. So much so that Nissan dealerships are full of thousands of them unsold, because sales predictions have been so far off what Nissan thought they would be, that they have had to dump them at dealers and cancel the next few months of shipments.

Very true. I don't think I have seen one of those new Pulsars yet that wasn't a rental car. I would love to see what proportion of Nissan's sales are to the rental market.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was around 80% or more.

I find it ironic that their slogan is "Innovation that excites", yet their range is anything but innovative. With the exception of the R35, their range is nothing but a collection of generic, bland and uninspiring vehicles with very limited appeal.
