Default Diff Ratio

What do all these numbers mean with diff ratios? How do i change mine i need some more take off speed?

the higher the number the quicker the take off, but you will have less top speed and less fuel economy, the number means how many times the axle turns to how many times the tailshaft (i think) turns, 3.23 axle turns to one tail shaft. =3.23:1 diff

Thats helpful thanks mate gathered it would use more fuel witht he higher diff ratio. How do i go about getting a higher diff ratio?

well the different ratios mean the wheels will be spinning at a different rate to the trans, than what they were at factory.

You had it the wrong way round.

3.23:1 = the tailshaft turns 3.23times for one turn of the axle.

But yes, numericaly higher diffs will help with take off (to an extent)

I have 3.45:1 This seems to be a grate ratio for me. I have found it to give good fuel economy (9-10L per 100km on a trip @ 110-120) and good take off also (0-60mph=6 sec), with a V8 manual.
By the way, the higher the number, the lower the diff ratio. eg. 2.77:1 is a hight ratio. 4.45:1 is a low ratio.
The changing the speedo can be done by a machanic by changing the "speedo drive" gear in the gearbox. not sure on a cost.
