Haha a burn,what the hell is a burn i have never heard that.Over here in the west they are still called burnouts and that is what they are.A burn is what the fire brigade do to prevent bushfires :

Which is exactly what happened at DECA when bits of the flying clutch from hell ended up in long, dry grass.. a serious BURN. Fire extinguishers HO!!!

I know one tip Craig gave me at the fordforums drag day in May last year (I think) was to angle my rear viwe mirrors down. Therefore you can see if your smoking both wheels or just one-wheel-pegging.

very interesting read, never thought about that before.

does a LSD help when drag racing? my ute has a single and im looking at upgrading to a lsd. it has seen the track a few times, and will probably go a few more. bit of a shock that a standard hilux V6 can run a 14.9.

I've never done a burnout in my life and am too scared to try especially after reading Chris's post :hihi:.

A teenager who drives an XR8 who doesn't do burnouts? What is the world coming to? .

Hell yeah, the giveaway was when the engine was near redlining and the car was surrounded in smoke yet no back tyres were turning!

Couple of people copped said bits of clutch on foot too, luckily no injuries

And yes, luckily I saw they burning grass otherwise that whole paddock would of been ablaze!

Good post on the LSD's. I've gone the detroit locker route to do away with burnt out clutch packs......admitedly, an earlier model car.

I'm still trying to master this staging burnout! I'm running 28" Hoosiers.....I hear they are made from a synthetic rubber? Do these things just not smoke very much?

I'll pop it in 2nd and spin it to 7000 and still not generate much smoke (71mph/114kph). I've tried 3rd once....it spins up OK, but I don't want to strain the driveline too much.....still not much smoke :( (106mph/170kph).

It still spins a tad off the line...not much...which could be more of a tuning setup thing which I'll work on. Would be nice to fire an infrared gun at them to check temps.

I took this exact advise off craig the first time i was at the drags, not only does it work well, it's alot of fun thats for sure.

Sounds strange that they cannot tell the rears arn't spinning, the second i pop the clutch i can tell what the back end is doing, not to mention the smoke... :

I don't either mate, only at the track and i try to keep them small, but sometimes it gets the better of me

First sign in mine,was spinning only one wheel,somethimes changing back and spinning both,but doing this totally randomly..
