Perhaps we should look at implementing the "odometer protocol".

Hey guys, sorry if it's else where in here, I did try to read as much as I could, read about 9 pages I think before it all became a blur. I don't wanna be an XT anymore lol I've seen a couple of users with less posts and less rep power than I as a G6. Are the 2 factors tied together to gain the rating? I have no intention of posting for the fun of it to get the "right" number, just curious how some get there and others don't. I just noted someone with nearly 700 posts and a rep power of 29 as an XT while another has the same post count as me, rep power of 2 and is a G6 in less than a month.

It'll suit me better anyway lol a G6 is like a Fairmont and that's me and my cars _2:

I know it sounds like I'm complaining lol I'm not, I'm just confused :

Thanks
Mark

The XT categorisation is due to you having around two yellow smilie faces.

Each time you give some good advice or help someone out in a thread they hit the white scales on the LHS of the post box (just below your username and next to the exclamation mark) and this adds to your post total.

You can view your points total by clicking on User CP on the Top LHS of the screen

http://www.fordforums.com.au/usercp.php?

I would surmise that you have between 200-299 points as you have two yellow smilie faces. Each yellow smilie face is awarded at 100 point intervals and the green ones at 200 point intervals

Your rep power is determined by a combination of factors,

1 point for each 30 days of membership
1 point for each 500 posts
1 point for each 100 points of their own reputation

Hope this helps

George

Thanks for explaining that George, makes it a little clearer. I guess there are still some discrepancies and anomalies at times, but that happens with plently of things anyway. It's funny you said I had 2 smiles, because when I left here last night I had 1, but having 2 means I'm now a G6 : I don't know how it happened but sounds good to me.

Thanks
Mark

No probs Mark. Click on User CP (on the Top LHS of navigation menu) and you will have a summary of people who have given you reputation

http://www.fordforums.com.au/usercp.php?

Or maybe just hit the above link and see if that works

Hey Russ,

I read through the first 6 pages but couldn't find my answer, In my reputation recevial box in my CP, I have a face that is neither smiling or frowing, the user didn't leave a comment either?

Can you please help?

Not the Russ you were after but I can answer this for you

A grey smiley is rep received from a member who has 0 rep points.

Gassy One

Basically means the person leaving the feedback didnt write anything in the box and was either a. a new member with no rep power or b. an older memeber with little activity / posts on the site and as such has no rep power

George

Edit: beaten by RG. I have failed :(

Is there anyway you can view all the reputation you have given out?

Not that I am aware - we can extract it from the database if it is needed but that would be the only way.

Cheers

All this rep talk has got me a little confused. So we all start with one smilie face, then more are rewarded through a points system? Because this is what I see in my user CP (i blotched out the members/threads), but I thought that would have meant a total of 4 smilies, not 3 under my 'rep'? My mind boggles.

You see in the image you posted that it says you have 225 points, so you need about 100 points for a new yellow smiley. Thus you will have only 3 (because you started with 1).

Has the amount of rep points you can give in one day changed? I thought you could only allocate two per day/24hr period?

I will make that a bit clearer...can you only award two different members rep points in one 24 hour period or has it changed?
