I'm jumping at the chance to test an LPI XR6, possibly G6, the two i'll be considering next year hopefully.

I would be really interested to see figures on that, my hunch is that people either get the 4 pot just so they have a euro (over say a G6ET at the same price) or go right to the top and get the high powered version to show they have the cash.

Update looks great and there is very worthwhile tech and equipment updates across the model range.

The side by side shots make the G Series like much better than the CGI shots.

Most people have said they want
* more airbags - despite the FG1 being the safest ever car sold in Australia. (Monash united)
* 18 alloys and new designs
* 8" touchscreen
* revised / more noticeable bumper
* projector headlights

We got those changes plus Ecoboost and EcoLpi. Early next year will be Coyote NA V8.

Winner!

This a facelift, thats it, so it comes with some good additions which is a plus.

LPG = awesome
EB4 = still awesome

Both the NA and I6T have ample power without even talking about the torque.

Try to distance personal dislike to failure.
I dont even know where to begin with this however when was Ford Aus number 1?

How much competition was around at that time compared to now?

Will Ford Aus ever be number 1 again I doubt it & not just because they dont do an awesome update lol on this I agree with you but also because of the times we live in with the cost of fuel & the perception that large cars that pollute are not cool (not saying they all do pollute more however that is peoples perception) & in this day & age being green is cool they think.

Also the cost of the vehicles with many people being scared of what is ahead for the world economy & not wanting to spend 35k upwards on a Falcon, they would rather buy a small economical Korean or Japanese vehicle for 15K

And we are not even on the Ford Aus issue we are really talking Falcon in this thread to be honest.

As I have mentioned in a previous comment in this thread the upcoming drivetrains are a positive step though for all the reasons I have outlined above & the fact that Dearborn is pushing a global platform for all its models the local Falcon is dead (you could say it has one wheel in the grave) sad but true.

So while it is not all about product it does matter & specially with so much competition about who are constantly on the improve & I dont mean Holden.

Also be mindful that Ford only covers at best 10% of vehicles in the Australian market,
so they can pick and choose the segments that suit them and have imports in others
where there's a chance of meaningful sales.

Falcon platform spans three segments:
1) large Sedan
2) SUV (Territory)
3) 2WD Pick Up/Cab Chassis

So when we all put the Falcon down as a lost cause, just remember than Territory
is now selling well and that Ecoboost promises significant sales in both sedans and Ute.

Seduce XR6 - naturally the market has change massively since the falcon was at the top, imports have improved out of sight and I do agree it seems people are happy to buy cheap; although once they are burnt (if it happens) then they come back.

Still, none of the above explains why an inferior commy sells in large numbers. I think the only data Ford should worry about with the falcon is how many they sell compare to the commy, and find why the commy does well other than an apparent marketing advantage.

And in fairness I believe Ford has really done well with marketing in the last 6 months or so.

Its going to be interesting how it pans out, from an engineering POV there is no reason why it cant be successful.

Anyway, we should focus on the here and now; Ford has addressed issues faced by consumers now and not in 5 years time.

Using that logic of your's, do 6 cyl owner's feel insecure to V8 and above owner's ?.

Eco-boost will probably leave some existing Ford luxuries behind in it's wake.

I think it makes them look more modern than the Mk 1. Will have to see a proper photo of a G series to get a final opinion of that but the others look good.

No point in adding more power to the turbos. They have more than enough. Overall some good additions.

Yeah I can't understand the complaining about lack of power hikes. 270kw is enough for most people and situations in traffic and for those its not, will probably mod them anyway!

5 seconds flat to 100km/h and 12 second passes factory standard isn't quick enough? That's a bit of a laugh.

Anyone who says the Falcon is not quick enough is a fool. It is a large family car for goodness sake, and as for the turbo's getting a power upgrade, well, we all know they don't make 270kw anyway, (it's higher).

For me personally, that XR6 in red above makes me DESIRE a Falcon, and up until now I have not felt that about FG, so for me, it is a winner.

And as for when was Ford last on top, the answer I believe was 1996 when EL was in full swing? Then Holden released VT and Ford the AU and the rest is history.

On another note, I see the FGII's new media system will accept up to a Terabyte - that's right, a goddamn Terabyte - of memory.

Let's hope so...

After all, this is what a refresh is all about, upgrading the styling and features to attract more buyers.
I certainly think Ford has done a great job with limited funds, it's taken the old man look off FG XT.
