Went to Bunnings yesterday to get my usual fix. Started the day early and didn't have time for a coffee. Pay at the trade counter and confirm with the guy that there is a cafe at the other end of the store. "There is, but you can grab a free coffee right there (points to the setup next to the trade desk)". Sweet I thought - I never say no to free stuff. Plus, my car was parked in the yard as I needed to load it and then pay so I didn't need to move the car out then park again. Then he continued...

"To get the hot water you just flick the lever back". I thought he was referring to one of those under mount zip boilers. I walk to the sink and look for it - confused.

I then asked him what lever? - and he replied the tap mixer lever - as in, use the mains hot water from the mixer (as if I had never seen one before).

I politely declined his offer (wonder what would have been the reply had I asked for milk?) and drove out than parked at the other end where the cafe was.

Go in, and the cafe was closed, although it was meant to open at 8am and it was already 9.

Oh well....

A pack of rat kids (aged approx 12-15) tried to steal my bike this morning. They had the audacity to walk down the driveway and scope it all out - including ringing the doorbell to check if anyone was home. Then when I caught them in the act, they said "we were just wondering if you had any old bikes you want to get rid of?" Apparently a shiny, brand new bike chained to a pole looks like it's a give away..?

Somewhere there are a bunch of crappy parents that failed.

Geez I hate coming on here and seeing the doom and gloom threads clutter the top of sub forums, its like the negativity flows freely here and quite frankly its doing my head in.

Add to that the sniping between members (yes I used to do it) and it's not a nice place to visit anymore, probably sings volumes as to why I lurk more now than I post.

Those little sticky labels on supermarket fruit that you can't get a fingernail under to remove. Do the checkout kids really need a PLU to tell the difference between a green Granny Smith apple and a red Jonathon, a persimmon and a pomegranate, or a lemon and a lime? Seriously?

I nearly fell off my chair when I read this ......Why you ask???

I hate them too, but what I hate more is when the blokes at work stick them everywhere (starting with the hot water thingy).....

laughing at this as I was having this conversation with my friend only yesterday. He has large hands and nearly no fingernails. Including apple/fruit stickers, he cannot use clingwrap, scratch a scratch lotto ticket or pick up a serviette from a pile without fanning it.Watching him use a touchscreen phone is painful. Id hate to see the struggle he has trying to start off a new roll of dunny paper.

When you buy a box set of the bay and the seller just chucks it in a large paper envelope with no padding around it so it arrives with two nice dings in the bottom corners
Luckily it wont be seen when its on the shelf but gee whizz protect the corners with something.

Like the poster above who has workmates stick them all over the place, my pet hate with these little fruit stickers is what my youngest son does with them. I find them in the weirdest places throughout the house and yard. Would drive me crazy if I didn't see the funny side, but c'mon son use the bin!

Oh yeah, I hate that.
Customs did a number on the packaging of one of my Beatles boxes. Because the lid does not simply slide off (there is a magnet and hinge) its not initially obvious how to get inside.
(unless you are customs of course, then you just tear into it and rip the lower side off for a peek)

I still find them in new places every week!!!! In the vans, in the warehouse, in the office, under coffee mugs......it does my head in!

They see it as a bit of a challenge to find new places. Harmless fun, but fair suck of the saveloy!!!

People who buy from my site and write in the comments stuff like "Need it urgently" or "Post ASAP" or better still "Only send if it will arrive by XXXday" and XXXday is 3 days from the date they ordered.

Yet all choose to not pay for express post as a delivery option.....

Tried to do something nice for myself today by driving to the country for a nice lunch

Truck kicked a rock through the windscreen

Can't afford replacement at the moment

Only had this car 6 months

Ecoboost cars require special soundproofed windscreen so it will probably be extra $$$

Bought an ecoboost to try to save money but it has done nothing but cost extra for things that would've worked out cheaper for a 4.0

I can't think of a reason why I should get out of bed anymore

Hmm, if I needed a special windscreen I make sure I had windscreen cover in the insurance policy.

Excuse my ignorance, but what on earth is a "soundproofed" windscreen? Is it just a sales gimmick, or does it work? And if so, how exactly. Can you replace it with a less expensive, ordinary "noise transmitting" windscreen?

And why do you need it on a wheezy little ecoboost?

...Rewards cards! ENOUGH ALREADY

There are just TOO MANY, & I'm sick to death of being asked if I have one, & when I say "No" I have to tell them AGAIN that "NO" I do not want one either.

I just don't care!

Just got my new RACT members card, which entitles me to a fuel discount "sigh"
I DON'T CARE...I mean, saving 40c on a $20 or $30 top up, please, what's the point. So, RACT card, meet scissors, meet rubbish bin!

I refuse to use them ALL on principal,
I firmly believe if a retailer can afford to discount a product, them maybe they should stop harassing us with stupid rewards cards & just give us a discount on the damned product!

Here's food for thought...my mum got a Russel Hobbs kettle ($100 value) via her flybys card redemption. 6 months on & the kettle sprung a leak.
She contacted flybys to see how she goes about getting a repair, replacement or refund, only to be told that she had to send the kettle back to the manufacturer AT HER OWN EXPENSE!

...& people think I'm weird for declining a rewards card!

Well that is your opinion of them.As an RACT member I appreciate that the club has gone out and got a deal to save members money.$150 year off my fuel bill is great. My Bendigo Rewards system gives us about $400 per year in cash, pretty handy Xmas Club.

This might sound like a weird one but it's still relevant...

Geez, I hate drivers that accelerate (thereby closing the "gap" between their car and the queue of traffic in front) when they see someone waiting to cross a road.

Felt like I waited an entire lifetime to cross a street today.

I'm sorry but DRLs' suck. most are so bright as to be at best distracting, and at worst dazzling, and they insist on using 20 when 5 or 6 would be more than enough to be seen. On top of that, most just look wrong for the most part and what's with the
jeep and Chrysler ones going out every time they use an indicator. If you're going to have the bloody things why not use them as the indicators. White when DRL and go flashing orange when indicating. In fact, that would work better than most of the indicators on cars these days that are troublesome to spot on a sunny day or once the car is old enough for the plastics to start to fade and milk over.

Tend to agree with some of them.

But far worse are the morons who put HIDs into older style headlights, and the absolute total f-wits who put them into driving lights and use them in suburban traffic.

Last night it was like a UFO approaching from behind - only with the mirror totally dimmed out (LCD auto-dimming) could I make out it was 4 lights behind me - 2 headlights, and 2 fogs.

But it wasn't a UFO - it was only a red P-plater in a mid 90s SSS pulsar doing well over 100km/h in the 70 zone when he flew past me over double lines... You could see the trees 30m above the road being lit up by his neutron beams. I can only imagine how bad it would be for oncoming traffic (luckily there was none, or I might have ended up in a head-on with a blinded driver).

I have to take issue with you there. You just basically called me a moron and a f...wit. I have HID's which you would have seen in my signature and they neither dazzle or flare. My low beams have a nice clean cut off line which is adjusted correctly and the highs are focused and do a wicked job. I've had to flash cop cars coming at me with badly adjusted lights more than once and have never been questioned, cautioned or even looked at twice because of my lights. What I do have though is one of those LED cree spotties that I screw on to my tow bar tongue and light up at people who are too stupid or ignorant to dip their lights as they come up behind me. Maybe that's what you need to remind the rest of the morons and f..wits to dip their lights behind you.

Let's hope you don't try this trick with a cop car. Showing a white light to the rear of a vehicle—other than a reversing light—is illegal according to ADRs.
