What do people think the list price for the SC XR8 will be? I can’t see it coming in at the same price as the GS if it’s to include the GT’s current brake package as standard. If anything looking at the figures I’ve collated below it’d probably match up to the HSV GXP. That leaves the XR6T to fight it out with the SS/SS-V in the budget market until Ford can source a NA 5.0 V8 from the US. It’s too bad they can’t launch the entire range at once.
Model Trans MRRP Variance
XR6T MT $47,990
XR8 MT $47,990 $-
GS MT $54,950 $6,960
GT AT/MT $67,890 $12,940
Model Trans MRRP Variance
SS MT $47,990
SS-V MT $55,290 $7,300
GXP MT $59,990 $4,700
R8 MT $65,990 $6,000
THIS is what it's all about. As a Ford fan, this is what i like to hear!

We've seen the articles/stats/discussions on how hard it is to swing buyers from one make to another. Ford needed to do something special with the V8 to win the masses of V8 buyers and this is it! We know how good the N/A Coyote is but i for one am glad to see Ford going all out! The gloves are off!!!!! Stuff 'em!!!!!!

I've bought 3 XR6 in a row now (two of them Turbo) and i could definitely see myself in a S/C XR8!

I'll take a stab at the pricing..........$52,990
Oh, and I have nothing to back this guesstimation up.

It's funny, you're quoting a $5,000 increase (roughly 10% up on the the current model), I'm still thinking it sounds like a bargain. I think Ford's onto somthing here, and we know nothing about the FPV's yet!!!

Pretty sure no they dont. V8 is available in the rest of the non 6cyl specific (ie SV6) range though.

Can someone tell me what DOTAR is? And, what is Ford having called DOTAR likely to mean?

I got no idea about that stuff...

Edit: department of infrastructure, transport, etc.?

Definitions of DOTAR on the Web:

* The dutar ( Persian: دو تار , Uzbek: dutor) (also dotar or doutar) is a traditional long-necked two-stringed lute found in Central Asia

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dotar

LOL

I dunno...

Is it to thank them for promoting their upcoming products? They're doing a better job than Ford at that at present. I for one love their work.

Or is it to submit some documentation on the new FPV's, if so don't make me wait until it's on GoAuto?

I'm hearing it'll cost more, but it'll be very good value for the price.

Give me a little more; are we talking more or less than the GS?

I'd assume they would be on the phone to them because the information was probably meant to be embargo'd so it wasn't accessible to the public but was entered wrong.

Can't wait till those bad boys come out but it's about time Ford got out of their tunnel visioned ways and brought in an alloy block. Why use a heavier block for the same power :S

Cast iron is usually cheaper and in some cases has better NVH properties, depending on how the block is designed. That said, this all new alloy engine should be smooooth as silk, even with supercharger

Its not that unbelievable. In BA Series 1 form, the XR8 was starting at $50,130 (excluding Dealer Delivery, etc) and the XR6T was $42,000 (or there abouts). Then they dropped its price with the SS/SS-V models. So yeah, going back to $50,000 isnt that much of a increase in price.

Heck, Ford could use the "We're talking prices back to 2003" line

ford is haveing good products across the range, there`s no down side, the way i look at it even a na version should be an improvement, if what we`ve read is correct less weight ,sitting lower in the engine bay, similar power with higher red line, as far as competing with turbo 6, any sales being lost to the coyote won`t matter because haveing all these great engines will bring more people into the showroom.
