Any ideas what happened- if he had a super is there some bypass valve that drops pressure or any clues as to what caused the HSV to make such a Pffftvvvt sound and then be blown away like this?

Dont know how to pronounce Pffffvvt, but maybe he just let off the throttle and with engine being either turbocharged or supercharged, there is a release of pressure. Funniest thing I have ever seen was a VE Maloo ute gunning it from the lights and a sudden puff of white smoke erupting from his engine bay. The poor bugger pulled over in an instant and had his bonnet up in seconds. There was so much white smoke you couldn't see the engine and the surrounding air looked like someone had just done a burnout. No idea what happened there, but certainly put me off ever wanting a HSV...

Changed the globes inside for the LED's, and I'm not sure if I like it. It feels a little cold and sterile, but I'll hold my judgement for a few weeks just in case.

Hi all,

I've been made aware of a black auto FG X XR8 that is not spoken for which is due for delivery before the end of this month. Location is in Vic.

Very reasonable price, too.

Serious interest only, no tyre kickers please. PM me and I will provide you with more details.

Just a few more days wait (after 8 months). My XR8 has arrived and will be ready soon. Lighting in storage not the best to show the colour. Lightning Strike looks awesome in person and contrasts nicely with the black accents and wheels.

We had a group of 9 FGX's (from Club FGX) turn up to Saturday Night Live tonight in Scoresby.

Great feeling rolling in, 9 deep. 5 XR8's, 3 XR6T's and 1 XR6.

Saw two on Adelaide's streets today (XR6 & a G6E) - that's the most I've seen since they were released!

Saw my first one mobile out a dealership (apart from mine), a Silhouette XR6T in Kewdale.
Didn't acknowledge the in car wave from the Silhouette XR8 but maybe didn't see, eh?
Rather thin on the streets here in Perth.

I've seen a handful. Two base model utes, one of which is a Police car, a white XR (of some description - only caught the rear end), a Silhouette XR8 (not yours, didn't have custom plates), one Kinetic and one Victory Gold XR6 and an Archon Bronze G6E/G6ET (it was behind me with its DRLs on - looked awesome).

Yes, I'm keeping a mental log of each one I see. They are indeed rare as hen's teeth here.

After 9 months my silhouette XR8 is less than two wks away.. As most on here would understand waiting 9months for a falcon is only something a select few of us in AUS are willing to do (specially now days).

All FGX owners, I reckon we are now part of a special club being the last falcon and if you don't see many on road now imagine how special they will be to drive in 10+ years time.

I'll be sure to post some pics on arrival.. Wooohooooooo!!

The latest edition of Motor magazine features a head to head comparison of the FG X XR6 Turbo Ute and SS ute. As usual the SS won the gong for it being a better all-rounder, however the Falcon was much faster, and, to me is that not the reason for buying the high performance version over a N/A XR6 or SV6. The seating position got the usual complaint

Anyway nothing new, however this quote made me smile -
“In isolation, the VF is still a reasonably good looking thing as utes go, but parked next to the crisp lines of the fresh faced Ford, it’s a little dated.” “……the SS is looking a bit plain these days”.

It seems a lot of FGX activity apparently has been in Victoria and Western Australia.

Number of FGX's I've seen running around the roads in person:

Australian Capital Territory
Zero - Excluding myself

New South Wales
Four - Excluding myself, mostly around Inner West Sydney and Sydney CBD

The LEDs you acquired are classified as 'Cool White' (6000K colour temperature) and so are not as easy on the eyes.
They're often the same temperature as those illegally retrofitted HID bulbs in halogen housings.

The stock festoon interior lights appear to be the 'Warm White' (Typically 2700K colour temp)
Natural daylight is around 3000K to 3500K.

That's why I've been skeptical about changing mine out until they actually blow.
But, do the LEDs dim smoothly?

Gez the FGX XR boot wing is boring as. It's the flatest most boring rear wing they have had over the years. It does the job but could have been so much more shapely than it is. Might be being picky but it's very plain in the above pics. Could have been a bit higher and bulkier to give some more shape to the rear.

Trouble is it would look out of place with the rest of the "bodykit" if it had a higher spoiler.

They could have done something with the flat piece, the lancer vrx has a higher spoiler, but on the cross piece it has some styling involved to make it look sportier, the falcon could have had something like that.

Maybe the FGX needs an FPV GT rear spoiler and it'll be right.
I managed to dig these up from earlier posts here:

I think the Falcon is meant to be reasonably conservative in design but perhaps too conservative in many aspects.

I knew it, it's my lens.
I've had my iPhone 5 for 3 years now but I don't want to get another new phone unless I really need to as they're becoming enormous. Getting off topic but.

I agree. Even if it was the same height as the FG, it would've looked better. I really like the back of the FG but the wing does nothing for me.

I like the FGX XR rear spoiler, better than the FG XR spoiler.

Looks more functional and not so "over the top" looking as the FG XR spoiler.

I also like how the rear spoiler has a nice subtle curve like a wave, so it further flows the rear, whereas a straight big spoiler actually breaks the rear flow visually.

But saying that- its a pain to clean, cause my thick fingers cannot get between the spoiler and the boot lid with a cloth, so I need to stick the cloth through and hold the cloth either side of the front and back of the spoiler to clean.

I'm not a huge fan of spoilers, and almost considering deleting it, but I like it in this form. Not OTT. But agreed, it is a bastard to clean under!
