almost a month since the last post in here, hope everyone is doing well or at least working towards doing ok.
I spent a few weeks on jury duty for a traumatic case. I have spoken to my counsellor since the trial finished, I took a few days off work - spent one napping and watching tv, then got out of the house and in the sunshine for some exercise, caught up with friends and did the self care thing, also drank too much alcohol (I have been warned not to self medicate and carry on with the drinking long term).

All good Tim. It's a hard one, that demon in a bottle.
I've had a few kicks in the guts lately, and sought solace in the bottle....SWMBO was NOT impressed....oh well!!!

I am on heart medication now, i have been for 2 months
![]() I no longer feel anxious and everybody has noticed the difference. My BP was 170/112 previous trip to the doctor, last week it was 128/79 so this medication works and this White Coat Syndrome i convinced myself i had, was just a smokescreen after all. I would have had a stroke for sure if i didnt change my thinking process. Daz |

Makes me wonder why I didn't get given medication as my BP was 220/150. Might need to look into that as I'm 40, of normal weight for my height and never been under 180/120 since I was 25. Like ever. |

A timely reminder for everyone to please reach out if you feel like you are struggling. Call or talk to a friend, colleague, family member, person from a car forum, specialist service, life line, counsellor, etc. At my lowest I felt like a burden on everyone around me, this is not the case. A late night phone call is much much preferable to being notified of something tragic.
I was trying to dodge a call from my manager on Friday morning expecting the call to be asking me to work my day off due to storm activity. There were a few missed calls back and forth until we spoke. He was calling to inform me of the passing of one of the guys from work. I had worked with this guy off and on in different capacities for almost 15 yrs - me as apprentice under his instruction, me as worker alongside him and finally me as a work planner with him as a supervisor. His passing has completely blindsided everyone at work and left many questioning if they should have noticed something in the weeks leading up to his passing. We are about to enter a tough time at work, but nothing compared to what his wife and kids would be feeling. And to top it off I found out about the passing of another former work mate, a real character of the workplace. He was quick to put **** on people, but even quicker to help when needed. This has been a pretty **** few days.

I recommend taking some time out for yourself to process whats happened and grieve if necessary. Bottling up grief on top of your own struggles just exponentially makes it harder to deal with. I agree with you though, speaking to anyone who is prepared to give you a listening ear is the best therapy. Even if they cannot help but be there to listen. Anyway, my thoughts are with you friend. Take care of yourself

thanks guys.
I have had a quiet weekend shuffling around the house and tidying up, rain cancelled original plans and continued rain meant I haven't really wanted to get out much. There was a 10 minute window of sun yesterday so i went on a 40 minute walk and have just got home from a quick walk with the dogs. I would normally work from home on Monday but I will make the effort to get to the office to see everyone and support some people, providing the freeway doesn't seem too unsafe in the morning.

I am getting better at it but I still spend far to much of my life worrying what others think of me.

I know a number of friends who suffer from anxiety and depression, and this is a common theme. Caring too much about what other people think. Having read some of your other threads, I'm going to take a stab and say you've probably been right more often than you've been wrong to get to where you are. |

Tried changing your diet?....or lifestyle? Easier said than done.
All that processed crap from the Supermarkets, mixed with dirty water/air, plastics etc, will eventually take it's toll. Vegetable/seed oils are so toxic it's not funny. Drop the fruit and replace with low-carb vegetables. Lose the sugar, carbs and anything containing processed grains. All other organs go into panic-mode from all the toxic and nutrient-deficient food we consume. Your brain is also an organ. |

Hi Guys,
Since COVID started a lot of people with Depression n Anxiety have suffered because they have been stuck inside and in lockdown. I think myself Communication be it talking to people in person or on the phone helps more then you think and its so easy just to pick up that telephone and call a mate if you need too. My sister passed away in feb this year and in October last year i wrote her a big e-mail and also sent some old Picture's i had of all my sibling's when we were all younger. I got an E-mail a few day's later from her daughter ( my niece) and she said " you made mum so happy with what you sent thank you so much. A simple thing as an E-mail can make a difference to a person who's feeling down and if you cant phone and chat or get things off your mind then send an E-mail to a mate or who ever and tell her or him how your feeling. I remember saying over a year ago that when COVID is over i would like to meet some of you guy's over a meal. To the guy's that live in Victoria i am more then happy to travel to Albury- Wodonga if that would help. |

Hey everyone,
Just a quick update. I know its been a while since I did one but a lot has happened since. There is no nice way to put it, but yesterday my father in law has passed away. He was on life support from a recent fall. We had to make the difficult decision to turn off the machines due to other complications which are too many to mention. Thats 3 men in my life Ive lost in 12months. My dad, my uncle and now my father in law.

My brother in law's mum passed away yesterday too, she found out she had cancer only a few months ago, so "fortunately" it was quick. She had a niggling tummy ache on and off for 4-5 years, but didn't get a health check, and when she finally did, they found it was gal stones that had turned cancerous. Moral of the story, go for regular check ups. I haven't had one for about 10 years now, so it has certainly woken me up to go get them done more frequently. |

your still a young un for me.
Fortunately at your age I can't recall losing close loved ones but alas being near on 20yrs on you it really starts the spiral. Sincerest comiserations mate and the family. Lost my FIL during early restricted covid April last year, only 10 fam members allowed, that hurt so much for he had 8 kids ! my wife was shattered and tbh still is.

With regards to my FIL funeral directions, he didnt want one so we respected that choice. His view was that if people weren't bothered to call, visit or acknowledge him while he was alive, then why should they have the privilege at his death. Speaking primarily about 'friends' and acquaintances he knew over the years. We've had an influx of visit from those who were actual friends. All of his family were back in England and his immediate family were right by his side for the best part of 20 years right to the end.

Really sorry to hear your news Blueoval.
I've just hit 43 and lost my old man and my mother in law in the last five months. As previously said we seem to be getting to that age. I know that doesn't take the sting away. Dad was from the waste not want not generation, his shed is full of bastardized and cobbled together contraptions Mum and I often go out there and have a smile and a laugh and I'm building the legend of Granddad the great inventor to the nieces and nephews. Remembering all the positives is really helping me out at the moment.
