Yes, I'm a cynic.

I dont see or hear of any businesses making complaints or gripes in NSW compared to our businesses in Victoria.

Hmmm? So, the pre-race favourite… “Fox’s Avalon” is now a no go eh?
Just wonder if Herr Andrews little dust up down on the peninsula had any bearing on this decision?

They don't have to complain when they are not shut down. But as far as I understand Merlino whinged enough to wedge the Fed gov and milk a new class of payment which may or may not apply to NSW

It was agreed that Business support comes from states. Wage support come from Feds. I think the rules are, hotspot declared and longer than a week.

Yeah I think it was Fed declared hotspot (not whatever the States get up to) to get payments which is fair enough since they are paying out the pesos.

Spent 5 hours at Perths Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Thoracic unit, it was a pre admission assessment for surgery on Monday morning.

I seen the thoracic surgeon, the anaesthetist, an advanced scope physio, a theatre nurse, and a clinical nurse, had blood tests and my final chest xray!

Not one person in that group asked me or mentioned anything about Covid-19, nothing, not if I had even been vaccinated, or if I had my flu shot!!!
Crazy eh!

Don't stress king Billy. Covid doesn't like West Australians. Good luck with the surgery.

Meanwhile, tried to get some clarification on the ski fields this evening, only to be told that tests are no longer required? Nice superspreading event in the waiting.

The Mickleham facility if for all sorts of animal quarantine and replaced the ageing facility at Spotswood (probably also on some valuable real estate) that had been used since the original site at Port Nepean (opened in 1852) was repurposed in 1950.

It will no doubt get the people in the new developments at Merriefield un-merry but it's no different to those who get cheap housing under flight paths. They have already been whining about the animal noise from the existing facility which was flagged for construction well before the first 'land sale' sign went up out there and this will no doubt add to their angst despite being 4km away from the housing development.

Where ever it is, from nothing to something in less than 6 months (assuming on schedule) , is a huge win. Reckon there will be any kudos given to those who proactively made it happen?

The article doesn't say who will build it either. Could L. Fox still get the gig?

Feds and State Govco will surely get the kudos for doing it no doubt about it as it is needed; Fox loses out since they leased the airport land from the Feds at Avalon, they are not in construction but they would have earned money with use of leased land.

The federal govt has had to be dragged kicking and screaming to get anywhere near building a proper quarantine facility. They should have sat down with the states and territories ages ago to arrive at a national quarantine policy/program. Instead of showing leadership when it was needed they played politics, attacking the Labor states at almost every opportunity. (I couldn't care less about Fox losing out and Dan will still be a big chance to get a very plum job there when he retires.)

"I've seen some political smoke and mirrors over my time and I think this is right at the top of the list," .....said who about the proposal? Pretty sure the average punter is smart enough to remember how it all started.

It is however interesting that some states are actually not interested in a similar facility.

One of the managers at work drove up on Wednesday to visit his grand daughter. He was to spend the weekend up there, then come back. We advised him to turn around as some of the news was trickling through. He didn't. We have a covid taskforce team set up at work, and they seem to somehow get tidbits of news before it is publicly released.

I look at it both ways as the states could have called on the feds a lot earlier to sit down an discuss quarantine centres, unfortunately in politics all politicians and parties are exactly the same when it comes to the blame game as the are all tarred with the same brush.
I wouldn't p**s on any them if they was on fire.

Darwin now in a 48-hour lockdown.

30 new cases for NSW.

So, did the Gold Standard State get this wrong? Should they have taken a similar approach to Vic and gone into lockdown earlier? Why the reluctance? Are party line politics behind this? If so is this a enough reason to not go into lockown (I ask this in the context of managing covid, I'm not interested in a political debate as it's against the site rules).

Its gone to Perth now. The proportionate response has managed to proportion the burden across the country. Who seriously didn't see this coming from a mile away. Said right from the start, don't gamble, house always wins.
