A betting man would say those dealers already asking way too much will be the ones to try cash in on a price hike..
Those with signed contracts around 58k manual n 60k auto I don't see having a problem as the dealer was genuine in pricing from the start.. |

So the second allocation of 200 (?) cars hasnt even been shipped yet and people are stressing over possibly missing out?
I think people need to calm down and be patient.

How long is this allocation for? Is this for the entire run of FG-X or just for a period?

Was talking to a dealer yesterday (trying to work out where to purchase mine from) and she said they had an XR8 arrive this week that they were not expecting at all. Don't know the veracity of that statement, but it seems odd to me that a dealer would not know that a car was going to be delivered to them?

Sounds like a standard Ford dealership to me.. There are good ones but I've personally experienced more bad than good service.

To me that seems standard across dealers of all the makes from all makes. Some are good in one area while others are good in other areas. Then I've had good and bad from the same dealer on different occasions.

I spoke to a dealer and it appears the reason cars are not being delivered (Not only XR8s) is Fords outside contractors are in no rush to deliver parts as contracts end next year so the contractors are making parts for on going contracts and in no hurry to do Ford parts. This might explain why no one knows anything as no one at Ford know when they get the parts to build their cars.

Perhaps quantities for initial orders were underestimated by Ford leaving them in a bind because now the 'contracting companies' won't play nice and put Ford back in front on the production line. Either way sounds like more smoke and mirrors. I think the dealers are speculating as much as we are. Ford need to come out with something for the battlers. Until then I remain bemused. |

Your car will be at the dealer at around the 14th Feb Ryan.
See the Dealer Order Number? The "A" indicates it was built in January. The 3 is a stage of the build IIRC. Don't hold me to that though.... I just sell em Enjoy your new XR8 in two weeks! (As long as ford doesn't take it offline to change something)

Now if there is a parts shortage on certain items then that can hold up a build on the car and as long as they give them notice then Ford will accommodate or if they can build the car and fit the part later. If a supplier is going to hold up the line they face a bill from Ford.

[QUOTE=Celtic Beast;5324369]Look under the super charger snout.
There will be 2 letters engraved there, these are the initials of the person who built your engine. Cheers.

Thanks XBv8mmm!, however, I don't have a supercharger, mine's a BFII. The engine was built by FPV.

Hi All,
Thought I would post some information, most is what others have already mentioned. Went to 4 dealers over the weekend in the Sydney area to enquiry for an XR8 for my brother, I already have a deposit on one since October last year mind you still waiting and have no news on it, anyway every dealer had something different to say but one thing that was consistent as others have said was the magic number of around 1200 units being made. Interesting as there are over 300 dealers nationally if each dealer has an average or 4 cars ordered then there goes all 1200 XR8's. The dealers we spoke to had a minimum of 6 orders and a couple had 8. Prices ranged from 58k - 63.5k for an Auto with Metallic paint. One dealer mentioned they are not taking anymore orders as they believe they will not be able to fill them. The other 3 were happy to take deposits, interesting though the dealer with the cheapest price of 58K said you will not have a problem getting a car and happy to take a deposit but at the same not would not guarantee it. The reason we wanted a guarantee is that my brother has a 2013 XR6 Turbo to sell and he doesn't want to sell it if he can't get an XR8 and he needs to sell it privately as he has done work to it and a trade in price would be way to low. So it seems more and more obvious that the XR8's are going to be a real low volume car, and those who have ordered one early might be lucky to get one but they would be waiting for them as the dealers are only going to get in 1 or 2 cars a month. Two of the dealers was still waiting for their first ones to be delivered as they haven't received one yet at all. I also got the sense from a couple that even though you have one on order if you come in with a higher price they would be happy to sell you the car, unethical but I got the sense they would do that. Another interesting fact, I was also asking if they heard anything about a limited edition XR6 Turbo with the same specs as the 8 but using the F6 motor all but 1 said nope heard nothing. The one who did say something said it was 99% going to happen. Take everything with a grain of salt as I did when speaking to them but just relaying our experience. George |
