heres the engine the day i took it out of the car.
btw the tyre was only a quick fix until i shifted some **** around i put here on car jacks x 3....1 on each engine mount and one support trans. since then the engine has had many cleans and is almost ready to go other than intake manifold. rocker cover is now same as body colour (red). she needs 1 more good clean before going into my car. she has had a few flushes with oil and the rust killing stuff used inside engines that havent been turned over in a while and has had a 2min no compression cranking test which it passed with flying colours. (few oil pump still works) meaning all plugs out and no manifolds and tranny in park and 1 x working car and 1 x set of jumper leads onto starter motor. shes as quiet as a mouse which is pretty good since i dont think its been turned over in 2yrs. (i think) and oil flows perfectly (few) before and after seen below brad

it took me 2 weeks and about 6 different peoples advice including an engineer before deciding to not go with the original plan of doing up the white ea.
main reasons.... k-frame - cut away trans - required custom brackets as had been auto-man-auto-4speed auto body - bonnet was bent badly dash - not present - not that its hard to put in wiring - 3 speed....needs to be 4 speed diff - untested so another variable in an already big enough problem brakes - not used in maybe 2yrs - again another variable car history - not really known basicly too many variables. ive known my car history since it was 6 weeks old....its been owned by a direct family member since it was owned by ford rep. sad but had to be done. brad

Its not really sad, it was an EA, and you did the right thing by you and thats what counts.
If someone brought my EL and then wrapped it around a pole then thats their issue not mine, its just a car.

At least it got sold to an enthusiastic E-Series member who has Jack's EA living on organ-donor style.
Maybe someone should make an RIP thread (a pics/bio thread that is) for all the great/notable E-Series cars previously owned by prominent members which have either been stacked or parted out or sold-then-trashed or returned back to stock? |

if you all gonna get soppy......its memory will live on in the new and improved EA2 and it will be loved forever.
now that thats out of the way..... i have started making a build thread for my ea2 and once im happy with it ill post it in the build section. as for the dead thread thats not a bad idea. kinda like build section but opposite. seen as this car started the club how about it be the 1st dead thread? ill show that 1 car can give life to many other cars (parts trading) hehe btw. theres no better way to learn that stripping a car. ive learnt soo much....i still need to learn a hell of a lot more but gotta start somewhere. my dad left for work on sunday morning with the car intact and only taking 1 car spot and when he got home sunday night 50% of the car was stripped and struine all over the garage and driveway....whilest he wasnt impressed at the mess, he was impressed how quick they come apart. ive kept everything inc nuts n bolts bar the bare min to keep car together....ie 1 bolt holding bonnet on, 1 bolt holding doors.....gotta love electrical tape...wood screws holding front wheels on. brad

Maybe an AMC style "MIA" thread :P In Jack's old EA's case we've got our first result, we could post pics of the EA in its prime and the shots of it now (from your above posts), state what was done to the EA, its significance, etc etc.
Then move on to other cars like -jjM-'s EB (although most of us here are aware of the outcome in this case), etc |

Well, my interpretation of your post suggested a general disdain for EAs.
Let me reword my intial post: "Why don't you make for a Knight Rider love interest and **** Hoff?" But, since your initial post was merely in jest, I'll take back my first response to you, and the above sentence is said in good nature :P |

On topic, I never saw this car as I joined up a bit later on, but I certainly understand the significance of it. It's a real shame to see it in that shape.

G'day all,
Interesting to know the fate of the EA, not worth getting emotional over though - it's the experience that counts, and the Club it spawned which is going strong as always. Good job with the motor BJ, I knew it would be a nice powerplant when up and running. Quote:

It's a shame to see it crushed, and the repairs are not that all that hard really (not much different to what I have doen to my car), the biggest thing against it was getting a road worthy from an un-registered state.

thanks jack. yeah im hoping itll be a wicked power plant when finally installed.
no matter wether you a ford or holden fan, the ford I6 is one sexy looking motor. now that its body coloured on the rocker, clean silver on the head and black on the bottom end it looks like one mighty beast (will post pic over the weekend) everyone whos sees the block comments on how good/powerfull the I6 looks. as my engineer said....its not the hours of labor required by you brad, nor is it the money required by you brad.....its the idiots at vicroads who will give you the hard time. b.t.w i wont mention the engineers name becuase of his lovely comment. hehe. he said if it was registered it would be a different story but unregistered considering i already have a registered ea wasnt worth the extra effort and $$$. offers for the shell went far n wide. but no body was interested so it met its match with the crusher. brad

the hardest part of the repairs to jacks EA would have been refitting a new k-frame. i would have used a modified sump.
I looked into this but dont have the space nor time these days. I think its pretty sad to see it go. it was a very low KM ea in excellent condition. |

AFAIK the only thing that happened with the k frame was the front crosss bar cut out for clearance........would have taken nothing at all to weld in a new bar at the front of it and hit it with some paint....
