the wife dropped 40kg over a some months and now at 70 kg is very healthy
I dropped from 138 to 118 in 5 months which with a body fat of 15% is also very good , my bmi is over 30 but considering the muscle mass I don't care , diet is 90% of it and some weight training the rest ( I am 192 cm tall though)

Good stuff mate, do you do any cardio/exercise, try not to starve yourself in order to loose weight, it is a common misconseption that people think in order to loose weight they have to starve themsleves, eating the right food's and consistent can actually help you loose weight, they give you energy and keep your metobalism alive and well and you start to thrive and feel like doing more, also gaining muslce will also help you not only burn calories but maintain a healthy weight, and that is what it is all about.

For the record people, I'm back..... it must have been a winter thing that got to me, but I have changed my program and I'm loving it, I have sat down and worked out my weak areas and they will be getting a blast, although I can no longer do my favourite exercise (deadlift) with heavy weight's anymore as to a slight problem I get when doing them, I am foccusing on a new approach to weight/strength training now, bring on the warmer weather..

Before i start a new thread i thought i would ask in here if anyone is a memeber of a "Genesis" Gym i have one opening up near me soon and im looking to head back into eights training, are they any good with reasonable size weights rooms, ect?

I have 2 other gyms within a handy distance but due to previous experience at one would prefer not to head back (Not paying full price for out of date equiptment anymore..) and they other has never been very popular for one reason or another.

I have a bench, weights, bars, ect but no spare room in the house and won't be able to build my new Shed/Garage/Gym for another couple of years.

Going to the gym does tend to "Inspire" me a little compared to self motivation at home as when im there i tend to work harder and longer rather than if im training at home just thinking "Ive had enough".

I dropped from 110kg to 92kg doing body weight exercise and running, now back up to around 96-97kg as my inspiration to get in shape doesn't look like it's going to work out so t he CBF factor crept back in..

So back off to the Gym i go..

Hey mate, Im a member of Genesis gym here in SA. Noarlunga to be exact.

Their equipment is all new and very good quality. I've been going there since May and have enjoyed it immensely. There is plenty of equipment to do what you need to and move on. Rarely, and I mean rarely will you need to wait for a machine. They have electronic lockers with pin codes, have steam rooms, showers and full amenities. The locker rooms are communal so be warned when heading in there.

The trainers are good too. There is also a creche for those with kids. Internet area. And everyone seems to be in a good mood.

I recommend them.

btw, Im paying just under $20 a week which includes any classes, and full use of the weights and cardio equipment. They make you sign up for a year contract. They also try and get you to do personal training, but they arent pushy for it. But its there if you need it and generally they require a minimum set of visits for PT sessions.

All the treadmills, elliptical trainers and, cardio bikes and rowers have tv screens which hook into TV and foxtel, as well as plugs for mp3/ipod players.

Classes include your obligatory Zumba, as well as yoga, Abs, Spin, Body Combat, Body Balance, Pilates, boxing, and a heap of other classes should you feel the need.

Hope that covers it

Thanks Blueoval, they are doing a promo deal at the moment here of 14.95 Per Week not sure how long you have to sign for or if all the classes are included, will look into it friday after work hopefully.

At this stage i'll be signing up with Genesis as the other gyms don't seem up to scratch.

Sounds good. They should give you a few days free reign to 'test' the gym out and see if you like it before signing up. I'd ask the question at least. You never know.

The gym isn't opening for a few weeks so their offer of getting out within the first week is probably about as good as it's going to get.

Well by chance i was driving around tonight and stopped where the gym is being constructed, fate would have the owner inside who saw my partner and i looking to see what we could through the windows and invited us inside.

Very impressive set-up with more Weight stations and weight room space then i could belive, i'll be signing up later this week no more fence sitting.

well done mate. I reckon you'll love it. Thats also a good price too. Keep an eye out for little incentives they give for recommending them to friends and family as well.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers mate, my old training partner moved back from WA and we got stuck into it this week compared to me training alone, it's been a sore week thats for sure

Fingers crossed by the end of the Xmas break i'll be closer to my low 90's target.

The gym is fantastic BTW.

+1 for Genesis....I’ve joined up at the city one in Cairns. One plus is that you can also use any Genesis gym in Australia which is good if you plan on holidaying but don’t want to miss a gym session.

I posted on here a while ago about how i wasn’t happy with being so small, etc.

Been eating right, etc now and I’m just under 60kg...170cm tall...So still on the small side, but BMI is pretty good. Also from gym I’ve noticed a bit of my ‘puppy fat’ has disappeared and I’m getting some tone. Don’t need to ‘flex’ for my muscles to feel tight. Biggest improvement I’ve noticed has been in my legs.

good to hear some great improvement guys.

Myself, Im doing well and still losing the fat. Building up the upper body and changing my shape. Arms are a bit more toned, and my midsection is looking smaller. Had many positive comments from family and friends about how well I am looking. Skin also is looking healthier now I drink mainly water.

Feeling fantastic.

Awesome stuff. It’s always a mega boost when other people notice a difference and give positive feedback...Makes you keen to push harder for more results!

Exactly, plus the endorphins kick in after a workout are also awesome to feel. Still have a a way to go, and only 2 months left before family reunion in QLD next year.

About to hit a workout overdrive for the next 3 week, best mate is down on holidays whos a fitness nutter/Army Chopper pilot in training.

So far going well, benching over a plate again which was the first goal and have been working hard or the pull ups/dips/chinups machines being a fairly large guy (Around 193cm/Solid build) i have always really struggled in these areas but working on them for less than two weeks and having been sick i have already improved about 15kg less in assist which im rather happy with.

Have fun over the Xmas break guys but keep up the workload and take the time to focus a little on yourself and your goals over the holidays.

A good way to detox the system after a night on the pee, is get yourself into a steam room. Genesis gyms have a his and hers steam room you can use as part of your membership. Worth using even if you dont do your workout.

Well guy's I'm down from 102kg, (late Oct) to 94kg today, I have changed my routine and I am now focussing on more speed/endurance in my weight training over strength, I still do my 3 main lift's for strength but not as heavy anymore, to old for that now, lol...

It's amazing the difference a physical job can make, I've gone from 105kg back in August to 92kg, that is with no extra training outside work (no gym) and eating absolute crap for smoko (usually subway though) . I've been pretty slack yeah, have to join up to the gym and start eating properly again!
