I would simply drive my v8 less and my 4 cylinder more. But if went silly high I would drive my 4 cylinder less too. Might even encourage my to ride a push bike. If that happens it could be compared to smokes going up! Smokes go up quit = better health! Petrol goes up cycle = health better! We might all end up like Asia.. on bikes.

As I have no car debt it would need to reach $5 a litre before I stop using my V8.

What gets me is those people who buy fuel efficient cars to save money...
Then go and buy bottled water which costs more than a litre of petrol. For God's sake, at least here in Melbourne, we have what is probably the best tap drinking water in the world... Its not Bali or Africa. |

Anyone know what a barrel of crude is worth today compared to the last 5 years?

Based on info from Macrotrends, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was US110.21 a barrel five years ago....today its trading at US71.99.
The AUD was trading at around 92 cents at that time. Last edited by Mulga; 27-09-2018 at 08:00 AM. Reason: Typo |

I always fill up when I have half a tank left... That way I always have half a tank in reserve.
Done this ever since there were petrol strikes in Victoria years ago, and we had petrol rationing imposed, and never forgot the long line of cars at the petrol stations. |

even if it was 5000 noobs on failbook, they wouldn't notic the change to their bottom line for the week. or they've seen the 'movement' on failbook, and will just jack up the prices on the day after when all the noobs are desperate for fuel. that'll show them. destined to be an epic fail.

Our fuel went down 15 cents on average in that period. As soon as the FB page went inactive the prices went back up. It does make a difference if enough people jump on board. |

Why would I do that, BP and Shell have the highest quality of 98 fuel.

BP,Shell & Caltex come out of the same refinery in Victoria.BP just just seems to bang on the loudest about their fuels. There is a much of a muchness between all of them.(Fact) Marketing is a pretty powerful tool.

The additive packages are different though, and added when the tankers fill up.

The rest of the in 98 in Perth I have no idea so I dont buy it. All my cars are tuned for E85 or 98. Iam not risking buying cheap imported crap fuel from a small independent.

Arron how do you find the E85 tunes and is there anywhere in Perth that retails it? Do you have any I6's on E85?

From 1995 I have found this out and it's still the same now, I can even tell if a car is using there crap fuel. A mate was showing me his new 375KW VF SSV power and I said you are using one of them crap fuels and he said how do you know, well I can hear that crappy sound, it's something like a muffled burble type of slight missing sound, it took even me some years to notice this sound, but now I am awake to it I can detect it directly now and old mate got his nose out of joint real badly because he thought it went well, but I said it did not really impress me for 375KW, some months later he turned up again and it really did go well and I said that's not one of the fuels that I bag and he said it was not and he was happy. not to mention he can only use 98 fuel in it. I go see mates 400km away and when coming home I would overtake a few cars and think this is not really going that well, thing is up there is mainly that crap stations, so I made sure I only put BP or Shell in it from then and then I was really impressed overtaking, I was like f this goes ! If some one puts Caltex type crap in my car I know it, but for the E10. |

I thought fuel was getting a bit steep for a few months now as it were a few years ago but I paid $1.85 (BP 98) for this last tank in Braddon which is in Canberra CBD. I certainly remember paying $1.60-$1.70 but never this much.
Lucky for me, most of my driving is 80-100km/h with little stop/start so economy is pretty decent. The only way to hit the companies is to actually reduce your fuel usage. Simply putting it off won't make a damn difference, they know you have to fill up at some point |

Just always buy petrol at the bottom of the fuel cycle, and also use the 7/11 app to lock in another 7 days once prices shoot up ~30-40 cents Then for many people, you wont need petrol until it goes near bottom again.
I have been doing this for years, most I have ever paid is about 10c over the bottom, and that was just once. (i also fill use a 20L jerry)

United E85 in Perth . 6 outlets. For turbo barra, adds heaps of power . I wouldn't bother with an N/A 6 or 8.

Those that hate fuel prices will be able to purchase electric cars in the next few years as they come down in price.

We might be concerned about what we are now paying per litre of petrol, but European drivers have been paying more than that for almost a decade.
Australia is still the 4th cheapest for petrol among the 33 countries in the OECD and the 6th for diesel and that’s largely due to relatively low fuel taxes. The Federal Government’s take of 41.2 cents in the dollar for fuel excise plus 10% GST seems exorbitant but it’s not as high as most other countries in the OECD. |
