Why is it that when telcos and airlines boast of an "Australian Service Centre," what they really mean is an East-CoastService Centre.

In all honesty, I think it's a pretty simple concept, and it applies to all goods and services: If you are going to market and sell your product, in any given market, then you need to service that market. And yes, that includes flaming Perth. So sick of dealing with companies where I can't contact anyone after 1~2pm.

If it makes economic sense to have ALL your staff in Melbourne, fine, but if you're going to sell into other time-zones, then you to have some staff work later.

180 or 190 rear tyre? When the yzfr1000 came out in 1998 it was considered the first go out and try not to kill yourself bike. My uncle still has his 98 r1, it has some kays on it, as in 28k and agrees the front end is light for what they put down

For some reason, my street has become the go-to location for driving instructors to teach 3-point turns. It started out as an occasional occurrence by one or two operators, but it's to the point where a never-ending stream of them pull up in front of my house, and always my house.

Out in the garage for a couple of hours today, no joke, at least 8 different drivers/operators made a visit today in that time. I know I don't own the road, but its pain in the ar.e that it happens all day long and always in front of my house. I even waited 3 - 4 minutes to get into my own driveway a week back.

Hey, thanks for askin..

180 Metzeler mate. I like going around corners to...

I've had 3.. the 1st one was a new 99 R1. The 2nd, a 12,000Km 2000 model, and my last one, pictured, was a rare find indeed. I bought it in 2006 in Chadstone, Victoria with... wait for it,
3624 original kms on it. Not an ex race bike. I was the 4th owner believe it or not. Paid $12500.

Still had the original 207 Dun rocks on it... with 3/4 tread! I sh it you not.

The 1st owner scared himself (500kms added). Second owner also scared himself (750Kms added). Third guy who I got it from, put the rest of the kays on it, and wasn't scared of it at all.
He was / is an interstate train driver that was never around long enough to enjoy it properly.
No bugs in the radiator, no hammered steering stop, not one stone chip on the headlights / fairing etc. Just a mint super low as new example... in 2006! No Fscken way! Yeah!

I had been looking around for one for about 6 months .. during that time my bike mechanic said to me, before I found it, "mate, you'll never find one. The only place you'll find one is in a museum"!

Love proving people wrong. (in a good way)

When I left the sellers house, I turned right out of his driveway nursed it to 20 kays an hour.. clutch in, revved it to 8000rpm, flicks the clutch and did a 200+ metre burnout, as I used to like doing on all my R1's.

I encountered road works for a few kays on the way back, and I couldn't believe my nose. It had the new bike smell when the thermo fan came on!
GOLD.

The thing was gutless tho (to me), had been pussied all it's life.. I rode it back to Adelaide on a Sunday night in winter and gave it a mega hiding (if you can thrash an R1 that is). I must've done 100+ 110 kay an hour to 240 kmp/h full throttle 'pulls' in 5th gear to run it in... so to speak.
And by the time I got to Bordertown, it had regained it's 'pep'.

Happy days.

It's long gone now, but I still think about riding... but also have a permanent reminder why I stopped doing it...

this is what they took out of my leg:

how it looked in my leg:

That's when I decided to stop riding and get a car that was just as fast as my bikes were. And yes, going around corners to....

2 Turbs, 6.2 litres of stroker heaven making 556 RW Kw's, back in 2006 mind you... (2003 CV8 II).

Funny how a simple question opens the memory banks.

Happy days my friend,

One Mad Man

I mean, I've got plenty of vehicles here too, I just don't want them dinged by learner drivers. Maybe I need to deploy a spike strip? (Need for Speed Hot Pursuit III reference )

Oooo, I'm showing my age now.

Detailstore were out of stock. Turns out that a mob called CDK Stone were/(are?) the importers of that particular machine to Australia. Emailed them - super helpful, quick replies and new backing plate on its way from Melbourne for less than $100 including freight

And belated Happy Birthday for the 28th.

That does my head in, especially the printer and my sound system. I get why they do it, but it's a pain in the ars.e. It's my money, I don't want things randomly turning off.

Mine doesn't do that. I have a new Bose Soundbar connected by HDMI to a new Samsung tv. When the tv fires up it's on tv speaker, then after 10 -13 seconds later, silence. waiting, waiting, waiting, oh there ya go. Soundbar connected.
I have dicked around with all the settings I can find... and all I can put it down to is the HDMI hasn't initailised yet, then Boom, all good. Frustrates me..

No one died. All good.

New TVs generally slow and unresponsive.
Too much going on in the background with all the Smart Features.
Very hard to find a dumb TV as the manufacturers are paid to include all the software.

Hmm, guess the must be using IBM 686 cpu's...

Our old Samsung TV was killer. Had buttons on the remote so you could punch in the channel number you wanted. Was a little bit laggy to update the 'guide', but hey, the new one isn't much better. I was told by the salesman that 'screen tearing' was a thing of the past... I must be fussy, cause I still see it.

The best thing about this new TV is that it has a matte finish screen with zero reflection from the 2.3m high glass doors in front of the TV in the lounge room.
Has heaps of things I didn't know about, or realised I could use (screen mirroring my phone for example). But at the end of the day, I just want to turn it on, select what i wish to watch and not have to think about whether or not the sound bar will kick in, as a few times it hasn't Grrrr

Cool. On YOU!! Wish ours did...

In relation to Cavs' suggestion:

Well I had a optical cable included with the TV, but the guy said, hey, just use HDMI instead.

Ok, so plugs in the optical, and now have to use to remotes.. NOT!!!

So I put the HDMI cable back in, and that's how it's gunna stay.
One remote, One TV. The way it should be...

Cheers,
One Mad Man

I use an optical cable from a Sharp TV to the Soundbar, a Toshiba Blu Ray got the Toshiba as it can play Discs from any region, LG DVR with a Logitech Universal Remote.

If a new model Apple TV was made with a Tuner and you could get a 55" or larger monitor that has a remote control that would be the base for my next setup.

When you find out that you have been doing something wrong for years.
I drink instant coffee for the convenience. Boil the kettle, fill the mug with boiling water, stir add milk or sugar if required.
Purchased ALDI instant Coffee and it's the first time I have seen instructions on how to make instant coffee.
Use 'HOT' not boiling water.
The microwave has a drinks setting 1 min 25 secs the water is hot.
After stirring the Coffee it looks different it has a Crema on top instead of being a burnt black liquid. Tastes a lot different too.
