Starting to think Mustang and some hotter performance versions plus some hot Focus and Fiseta models and maybe a HiPo Mondeo could do more for turning around Ford Aust's image then a $200mill advertising campaign.

I priced up the megane rs265 and that was $180 for two days. Not including any extras.

Don't see why the mustang should be nearly double that.

Oh and hertz, I love the Toyota 86, but auto? Really?

$190 a day inc the extra stuff they lump on, compares well to the $240 for Megane

"WANT to jump the 18-month queue to drive a new Ford Mustang?

You can rent one thanks to a landmark deal between Ford Australia and Hertz.

Before you get too excited, though, you may need to hold your horses.

Even if you’re prepared to stump up about $150 per day — or $54,750 to rent one for an entire year — finding a brand new Mustang available in a capital city near you could prove difficult.

When News Corp Australia went online we could find the Mustang listed among four “Adrenaline Collection” cars that included a Nissan Pulsar, a Toyota coupe and a Renault hatchback.

But when we tried to book any of the four “adrenaline-packed” cars — using popular capital cities and airports as a pick-up address — we were offered only a Renault or a Toyota.

The Hertz website then tried to steer us towards other luxury models — but no Mustang, even though the website invites customers to “reserve this exact model”.

What $200 mil advertising campaign? The uninspiring 'go further' ads really cost $200 mil to make? Is the lady in blue really that expensive to hire?

Hmm. Does Mustang run the same rim offset as Falcon? Bolt some FG wheels on, do some dirty deeds, then install the original mustang rims with good tyres before returning .

So do these Hertz mustangs have any special badging or features?
Or are they a standard GT mustang?

Nothing special besides Hertz plates. HTZ-XXX etc.

In the states they've got the GT-H (GT-Hertz).

It's not bait and switch.

They would have only a limited number of vehicles in this category and would be stopping reservations to avoid double bookings. You can not reserve what they do not have/cannot supply for the dates you have selected.

It's unlimited km's. There are no mileage restrictions for a booking I made last week. Unfortunately I had to cancel this booking as I'm under 25.

You think the Mustang's boot is bad? You should try the current Camaro! It's boot opening is like a letter-slot in comparison, you literally have to force a small suitcase through the opening just to get it into the boot in the first place.
