I have a few goals financially I want to hit and a couple of new careers I'm looking into and in the process of applying for, hopefully within the next couple of weeks i will know what direction im heading in there.

but my resolution is to re connect with a lot of my family, there is no ill feeling between myself and said family members just a lack of effort on my part, time to get off my **** and give some time back to those that gave me so much growing up before it too late.

Looking forward to making 2013 a massive year as 2012 didn't bring me much joy or success.

Default Re: A New years resolution question

With the Holidays upon us I would like to share a personal experience with my friends about drinking and driving.

As you may know some of us have been known to have brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends.

Well over the week-end I was out for an evening and had several beers, not unusual….

Feeling a little jolly I still had the sense to know that I may be slightly (way) over the limit. That's when I did something that I've never done before - I took a cab home.

Sure enough on the way home there was a RBT police road block but since I was in a cab they waved me past. I arrived home safely without incident.

This was a real surprise as I had never driven a cab before, I don't know where I got it and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with it.

Also, the meter is still running and the bill is starting to look a bit excessive, my question is, can I claim this as a business expense ?

mine are to be more selfish , less social , and more confident in myself . i know that sounds harsh but ive lived long enough to know that all the opposite views combined lead you into uncontentment and trouble . i'm not making the time /nor effort for people this year who arent my friends , and i'm not after social contentment , but to enjoy my goals , and not worry about others opinions on what i want .

Am I missing something here with this "1920x1080" business? Am I not up to speed with the lingo or something? Or is it purely you want a TV with those specs?

I'm not really worried about those few that I listed. The things that drives me nuts is when someone types a post that is half a dozen lines long, or more, and there is not a single comma or full-stop anywhere to be seen.

If I make and error, by all means, pull me up on it. I'm always looking to improve my spelling and grammar.

Try some anxiety medication , it will calm you down and you wont be annoyed about the little things , and the bigger problems will look less problematic also

Just a bit of a joke using the common resolution that monitors and TVs use now

Wasn't on much in 2012...had some serious **** going on...wasn't good...recovering...

So...

I was 2013 to be better than 2012.
I want to live for me again.
Want to get fitter
Want to be more proactive
Want to discover my self value
Want to continue being more independent (that means my old man leaving me alone - I'm 29)
Continue saving for a house.

I'm in a similar place.

I tend to put the feelings/needs of the people I love ahead of my own. To the point that it usually makes me miserable and I miss out on things I want.

I've managed to cull most of my "friends" over the last 12 months, after an overseas holiday with some people was ruined by arrogance and self-centred behaviour.
I'd put up with their **** for too long. Too many times they'd tried to spin it all on me. Now they've made their beds, and I can't wait to say "I told you so" when it all crashes down.
The ones that picked a side after only hearing half the story are also people I don't need around me.

This year is about me. If they thought I was the selfish one then, just wait.

This year I want to do more with my weight loss. It's so slow, I get discouraged, and I have no support really, but I'm not going to look like the Michelin man in my holiday photos.
I'd also like to get more into my hobbies.
Violin (maybe get professional lessons again, more AMEB grades...find a community orchestra?)
Teach myself cello (More than the one scale I have mastered already)
Photography (Maybe take a course. Need to improve for my holiday, since I'm only going to get one shot at the photos I want to take)

Head off on my long awaited Euro holiday of a lifetime - solo.

With these two can I offer a wee bit of advice (I'm no expert so feel free to ignore)

But with number 1, just remember, baby steps. Set realistic goals and find an activity you like. I highly recommend cycling as it is easy on your body, you get almost instant results so it keeps you interested and you can cover a lot of ground, so you actually feel like you've acheived something. Rather than walking on a tredmill etc. Plus you get the sense of speed and who doesn't like that If you have an iphone I also recommend downloading "strava" as it will log your rides which is great to look back on and once again, motivates you.

Number 2, read, read, read. Plenty of info on the net (even a lot in our own photography section) but there are forums out there just for photography such as: http://photography-on-the.net/forum

Then just get out there and shoot, you'll have plenty of chances of getting the shots you wanna take, so don't stress

my goals are as follows:
-lose at least 20kg (already shaved 10kg off last year
-make my car look more neglected on the outside (half way there imo)
-successfully start and run my cafe
-work harder so i can party harder
-if all goes well build a nice motor for my car

considering all the crap that l went through last year l will be openly optimistic and enthusiastic for this year, as my life can only get better imo (read the Geez i hate that thread) cheers everyone.
