In another similar competition, Ford Australia is giving away a Ford Focus Titanium TDCi – the top of the range model in the new Focus line-up.
According to the competition’s terms and conditions, the Focus Titanium TDCi will be priced from “approximately $33,000” on the road (which includes GST, 12 months registration in the winner’s state or territory of residence, dealer delivery charges, 12 months compulsory third party insurance and stamp duty). What competition?????? I want to enter it!!!!

It appears the TDcI can only be had with auto.
http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Satel...oller&site=FOA I was going to get the Titanium TDcI with six speed manual. Looks like the XR6 I currently drive will be the last Ford I buy new in Australia. Oh, and the others have such gay names. http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Satel...apper&site=FOA Why can't they just sell as the Euro spec cars? |

I agree, it's disappointing and makes no sense, but at least they haven't gone down the Mercedes-Benz route of offering the entire range in auto only.
Ford isn't the only manufacturer to do this. |

Well I never thought I would EVER consider a Volkswagen. The Golf GTD seems to fit the bill. Need to find out the price.
http://www.volkswagen.com.au/en/mode.../variants.html I have just spent for weeks in the UK with a Passat diesel and 6 speed manual. It was a good car. I preferred the Mondeo but as said above, auto only for AU. |

What about the mondeo, can you get TDi + manual?
Its just odd, I know we traditionally buy more auto's (in Falcons etc), but to me a smaller engine needs a manual. I know the new auto's are great..powershift blah blah blah. Imagine the face on someone in euroland if they said that it was auto only... My father in law has a Golf TDi manual and its a great little car, a little to small in the back for me but still a good drive. I quite like the new Skoda's getting about actually.

I don't know about the Titanium in particular, but the TDci hatch comes standard with a 6 speed manual amd the automatic is an option. This is shown in the "Power and Performance" section of the "All new Focus".
ETA You are correct, the Titanium model TDci is apparentley only automatic. In fact the Ford website is inconsistent, some times stating auto only and other times manual or auto. Last edited by irs; 07-06-2011 at 04:41 PM. Reason: Further information |

average review but appears they did enjoy it and gave it a pretty good score. issues were related to the lack of dynamic ability compared to the last model which seems to be a pretty standard response by the Euro reviewers. Pity though, as the Fiesta is the best best handling small car and I thought the Focus would follow.

Sounds like they're having a few issues with the new models in the U.S.
http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...d.php?t=259800 http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...d.php?t=258543 http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...d.php?t=260219 All new models have teething problems, but this doesn't sound too promising. On the other hand the (no offense intended here) but the yanks do tend to dramatise everything |

I'm guessing the new Mk3 Focus (from Germany) that will be launched in Australia doesn't have the rear aircon vents found in the Asia-Pacific and African Mk2 Focus models.
Do you guys think the model that will be made in Thailand next year will get them? |

So the Ford page has been updated with specs & prices. NSW estimated drive away for the hatch
Sports $30 599 Titanium $35 995 I think that the car is overpriced. Was going to upgrade without looking at what else is on the market but not anymore. A brief search in the 30 - 35k range shows that one can get more car for ones money. |

Edit: I just realized the soon to be replaced LV II has no rear aircon vents.
ASEAN version I wonder if the future Thai made Focus will get rear aircon vents. Last edited by AG3; 06-07-2011 at 09:27 PM. |
