Whilst the piccies don't do the car justice, I still wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole.
Bland, bland, bland & boring a bat shit. And that two-tone effect! ::
I just hope that the '07 Falcon can right the wrongs of the AU Fairlane. BA Fairlane had nowhere to go so I don't blame it for it's boring-ness!

Having said all that, they are as comfortable as all hell to drive!

i must be on my own in saying i really do like the look - front, back, side, of the BA Fairlane / LTD.

love the beige / black interior treatment.
all it needs is to be lowered over some 19" or 20" rims.

i'll have one in black or dark blue thanks!

If you want a Galaxie then go and get one of these ... it's as close as you'll get.

lotsa bits i'd ditch on that galaxy concept car, like the fugly bit of chrome across the front for a start
but i seriously love it - how ford should have made the G220.
G260, look like that, woulda flogged the Grange IMO

Sounds like there's more than one person that thinks 220kw is shite

The (new) Galaxie pictured below looks awesome. The only thing I think that was really debatable from memory was the rear lights (?).

The G220 would be my pick less those chrome centre bits, id just chuch them away as they could be easily removed and probarly have a centre cap fitted instead!

Now that FoA have dumped the Luxury Control Blade IRS from their Luxury line-up and have given them all the same Sports Control Blade setup (makes sense right?) what the hell does the G220 represent other than a monumental waste of money with a name bearing a number that tells you just how deficient it is?

Ford are trying.. Very Bloody trying :
The fairlane and ltd are an utter joke. Ford is not trying to improve itself, they have their hand under the blanket shaking it all about :jerk:

Funky cloured leather seats. Oh, and a badge.

Bring on a G260, or even an FPV G290.

eww not cool those rims are totaly bad. the G220 should be the G250 or something. or have a turbo 6 or something they have now totaly given the lwb market to holden.

those white seats dont look very nice to sit in and dont match the interor of the car.

It might be damning it with faint praise but it's an improvement on the predecessor and no doubt it will sell a few more than has been the case.

I'll hand points to the interior design team in their efforts to add a bit of perceived value to justify the luxury tag. Outside there was never much that was going to be done with a small budget but it will probably do.

I'm no huge fan of the multi coloued interior treatment but it's been used by a few of the Euros and doesn't seem to have done them any hars so maybe that's what this segment of punter wants.

Cheers
Russ

BA LBW = pathetic

do it right or not at all.
I dont understand what they are competing with. Fairlane is just a 6cyl lwb xt, G22 is a hokey "sports luxury" who would have its *** handed to it by a Caprice, and the LTD, well if you dont play lawn bolws dont even think of it.

Fairlane should have 182 with 220 optional
260 should be replace the G220
and LTD should gave 260 stock with possable optional 290 (compete against Grange, well in power, it lacks in every single other department at the moment as well.)

Put up or go home Ford.

Does anyone have the sales figures for the Fairlane/LTD and Statesman/Caprice? The Fairlane may look half arsed but it still looks better then the Holdens.

Might be just me, but i get the vibe (not just from here) that the statesman/Caprice/Grange looks 10x better than the XT, i mean Fairlane/LTD's.

I would buy a LTD... tomorrow or next month, or whenever I could afford it. If someone assured me that they would make an exact copy of the Galaxie body kit and sell it too me.

In ways its crude, has lots of chrome (in odd shapes like that front bumper) and geniune skyline rip-off brake lights..but i love every part of it.

Its my ideal modern LWB car. Oh... and its needs that little thing called a 260...

Whilst not a huge fan of the rear end, the Stato/Caprice look much different from the Execs... Quite a classy ride. You can spot the difference from 100 paces.

As I've said before, the Fairlane/LTD looks like any old Falcon. Very boring and half baked styling wise. Ford could'nt even come up with different tail lights.

Problem is the F'lane/ and especially the LTD in earlier years, even though were based on the falcon equivelant, you never had to look twice to see what they were. They blend in now with utter bordem that you need to see the badge almost to see what it is. Ford are so shite scared of there blunder with the AU 1 series that an XT and LTD are so simular it borders on stupitity!! I like the BA so I like the LTD cos they are the same with extras!

PS........I like that fishing reel though. Might go and bid for it

This is one big area where the red team walk all over Ford. Ford's LWB cars need a big spice up in pretty well every area. And its almost laughable that you can't get at least 250 - 260 kW in these prestige cars?
