The other thing that lets it down is they left all the bolt heads on the painted bumpers.
Foose always welds the bolts in and grinds off the head to make a nice smooth bumper.

Thumbs up Re: some weird this falcon

If it is a "lift off" metal roof I can see (imagine) how the rear turret on the roof/rear screen mating faces might accommodate it - would be bloody heavy as stated before. Lift off roof, wind down front/rear windows - winner!

From Express' front on pic, and aussie muscles side on pic I can't see any joins above the windscreen:

Definitely 'Lane rear guards though.

Looks like a ****load of panel work went into this ride, really hope it was done properly and deserving of merit.

I quite like it as it stands, each to their own.

Cheers!

Just found this monstrosity on EBAY what the hell have they done to it ?
$44,900,00 Seriously for a butchered coup , not for me they have ruined a otherwise beautiful XB coup IMO.

I got an e-mail about this car back in 2003. I can only assume its the same car repainted. Surely there would not be 2 of these?

"This car lives in Newcastle, NSW. It doesn't get driven all that often, well at least I don't see it that often.

The car is for sale, so I rang the guy and got some pics of it about 2 weeks ago. he told me the full story of how he built it. he actually had 2, the other was an XA coupe but only had front mods, not the whle car. I saw pics of that, but didn't get to photo his photos, lol. The guy is about 70 and he built it about 15 years ago, and it's holding together VERY well. It's all steel no fibreglass. He is not a panel beater and did it all at home, I saw the build up photos, really quiet amazing what he had done.

Attached you will see 7 pics of these weird beast.

The car is a 73 or 74 XB Hardtop,
302 - 2 barrel all stock
C4 - column shift
ZF/ZG Dash
white trim
bw diff
14x8 & 10" rims with 245 & 295 rubber.

Specs and mods are as follows (that I can remember): From the front.
XB Grille, sectioned 6 inches, so no centre bar
Front bumper sectioned 6 inches
Custom front indicators
Front garuds sectioned and taper in from the front wheel arch to make the front the 6' thinner, also extended 6-8 inches.
Top of gaurds completely reskined so no curve or bulge near outter edge, comepletly flat from the front windscreen forward.
Bonnet completely reskinned and lengthed about 6-8 inches
body line that goes over the wheel arches (where paint black, etc on XA/XB GTs) is gone, completely. It does still run between the wheel arches, but not over. Looks very werid with this done
The curve in the top of the doors is gone to blend in with the front gaurds.
Windscreen is stock
Roof turret is stock until the rear window.
The car is a convertible and unlike other hardtop convertibles, actually looks good and not way out of proportion as the rear 1/4 have been cut and reshaped.
The hardtop part is all steel.
The rear window is Lexan and still quiet clear for its age. This comes out seperate from the turret
Roof held on with 2 bolts at the front and 4 at the back I think. Looked very neat.
There is also a soft top, but I only saw pics of this on, also didn't get pics with roof off.
The soft top looks good though.
The rear 1/4s have been cut down a heap. Like he followed the curve up the doors than made his own shallower hump.
The pic of the side of the boot lid shows the width of the 1/4 where he cut it off.
The boot lid is tapered at the sides, so it just clears the hinges.
The tail light panel is original as is the rear bumper and exhaust panel (only panels on the car not touched).
Rear wheel arches again don't have the bodyline. They fit the 295 neat, but no wider than stock.
Under the car there is 2 square tube rails that have been neaty fitting into the floor. He removed the floor pan, fitted the rails and then put the floor pan back in so from under the car you can hardly see the mods.
Inside the car if you look down next to the seats you can see the carpet bulg over the rails, they don't foul anything though and look factory.

The guy built the car in about 6 months I think, just for fun. Amazing amounts of work and as I said all steel, there is nothing fibreglass in the car and also only minimal amounts of filler. I saw the pics, he did a really good job.

He is selling due to wanting a smaller car.

I considered buying it, but it was just too weird for me, maybe if it had the body line over the wheel arches it would look better. He was going for the American look and I think he did well to acheive something along those lines.

Enjoy the pics, I do have some more if you want them, but these ones show the most detail, the others are just random angles.

That red one HAS TO BE the same car

Interestingly the front wheel arches were rounded off too when built, they have since been replaced with original Ford stamping which now makes the green one look a bit odd as they are mismatched front to rear.

[edit]

I just read the above modification list a bit better - sounds like all the front sheet metal has been put back to original - removing all the front modifications. Perhaps it had a front end bingle

Don't like it,

isn't it funny how some have said it kinda looks like a torino!!!,

I remember seeing a video of that XBOSS coupe that was being shown in the USA, and one guy on the video said it looked like a Torino.

Love the shape/lines/curves of the XA/XB/XC coupes, but this one needs to be rescued!!, buy it, throw away that roof!! and transplant back to original.
