Remove the pan, Hope half the g-box isn't mere remains, accumulated and stuck around the magnet. 983 had that exact issue week before last... Only fix new G-box...

ok update, i got my transmission serviced today, needed new oil bad they wreckon so got that all done, anyway they had a look at the diff oil, (dident pull the housing off) and they said the oil is way way way to black. So they wreckon some new oil might be the way to go, but im not sure. Also i was at my farm on the weekend, the noise came back (the loud Wire stretching noise) and i jacked up the car, The car was in nuetral with hand brake off, i had to use all the force in the world to get either tyre to spin. add any more clues to what it might be?

Anyway im giving it a week and ill make the decision on what to do so any more suggestions despite the recent findings would be helpfull

Thanks

it's for IRS mate...
although you can pull the centre out and put it into yours..
still a bit of work..
it will be 3.45:1 ratio...

if you've never done it i wouldn't suggest doing it..

there's a set of 3.9's in the FS section.. buy them and take the car to a diff place..
they'll sort the rest out..
most of them will have a s/hand LSD hat that they'll tighten up and put in for ya..

i spoke to the guys at Northern diffs not long ago..
for new gears and a reco LSD they wanted around 1600 fitted...
now, bearing in mind that mine is IRS, you'll drop quite a bit of labour off that price..
also, you'll be supplying gears, so you wont be paying their price for gears..
i think around the 800 mark with a reco LSD should see you set..!

but, i'd do a quick ring around..
