I love the way Chris beats around the bush :

I would think you would need approx 300+ rwkw to run 117 mph in a full weight BA

Have to admit 13.6@104 (2.1 60ft) to 13.1@117 (2.0 60ft), you would think he was heading for a 13.4 with a 2.0 60ft.

Congrats Lynton. Great time indeed but the much loved Mk2 GT your talking about will be a more than worthy replacement (especially with those mirror warmers!). Welcome to the Mk2 GT club!

l think with the 60ft your car would run a mid 13 not a low 13
And with your first run a 16 and then come out and run a 13.1 after a delay l find it hard to belive when in my car l can run consistant 13.3 at 35 degress straight after each other.
For a start, if you read my correction the first run was 13.6 not 16.6 My car normally does a good .4 faster once I have cooled everything down.
When I compare the two time slips, the second run was much faster all the way through. I do however concede that the MPH is high, more than I can comfortably explain. The 117 is certainly not a typo, it is what the time slip says, as you can see for yourself. if someone can explain to me how it can be fouled up, I am happy to accept it.

I am happy to declare the MPH suspect but if the ET was suspect, why is the second run faster all the way through? Previously with the unichip, my first run for the night straight off the road was about 13.9-14.1. This time would normally drop down to around 13.6 at the end of the night when I had a chance to cool everything down. I do have a stack of time slips that will demonstrate this on a number of nights. Normally takes me a run or two to remember how to do it from a driving point of view anyway.

With this in consideration, the difference in times from last night are consistant with the improvement that I normally get.

l was thinking the same thing Wade as it's only a tenth of the 60.

Maybe Gecko could post the timeslip so we can compare the times, this would be best done if you post both slips of the night.......l am not taking anything away from you dude but come on it does look a bit suss.....

Thumbs up

Bloody good time there Lynton. Mate I don't think I want to line up next to you next time we meet up.. But I must admitt auto's are the only way to go for the 1/4 and you know I am a manual man and always will be... My thoughts are, doing a 117mph is more fun mid corner.

Agree totally, not many places you can do that though. Those springs should help the GT through corners (need to catch up with you about that). Morgan Park should be a blast this year, can't wait!

Are you keeping Gecko long enough to take her to Morgan Park?
Would be good for her to do that as her last major fling so to speak.

By the way, I forgot to point out that the race number for my car was 653 on the night. Have a look back about 6 posts and you will find the attached timeslips

Thanks guys!
Like I said earlier, the MPH is awesome and unreal. If someone can explain to me logically with fact to back it up how it can be wrong I will accept it. Until that happens I wil accept what a time slip from a championship raceway tells me!

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it! .....to everyone who doubted the mighty Gecko! : : ing_sm :gren:

Like i said before...if this is what the Gecko can do, then watch out for the GT's times because ......."what was that and where did it go?"

If you think that timeslips are always right and that the timing equipment is always setup right you are dreaming.
I have timeslips for my ute showing mid track mph around 150mph and others with equally ridiculous top end speeds.
I have a recent timeslip of two BA XR8's with similar mods, racing each other, one did a 13.30 the other a 13.45. the weather and track temps were very similar.
The incrementals on Lyntons slip from the 60' right through to the 1000' sit almost exactly between the two, which would give him a high 13.3.
Also considering the car in the other lane was still pulling away at the 1000' mark I cannot see how Lynton was so much faster than him at the end unless he was rocket powered for the last 320'.
Lets face it, sometimes you get issued a dud timeslip.

I am not trying to bag Lynton, or his car in any way, but sometimes these things are too good to be true.

it would seem so, the maths don't add up but then again I've never heard of a timing error @ Willowbank, not to say it can't happen

Forget the mph debate the ET is a beautie

So is the result a suspect MPH? The second run felt a lot quicker than a 13.6, I should know as I have done a lot of 13.6 runs and can tell you without looking at the slip if it was a 13.6. This second run was way better than anything I have done in this car before. Even if the MPH is questionable, I am happy with the ET.

Talking Good one Lynton

Well done mate.
Remember to give me a buzz when you are heading out.
I only live 20 mins from the strip.
Well done on the times, however if Ms Tori was at the wheel I am sure it could have gone harder!

Keep the bonnet open, spray down the induction with a garden sprayer and water and don't run it unles you have to. Before that last run the induction was cold to touch. Why spend all that time and effort on CAI only to have the air run through a roasting hot inlet tract. A 60km trip to the track makes sure the car is really hot for the first run.

You know Terry - you are just the most intelligent person I know... and of course it would have gone faster for me but alas I was relegated to cheer squad that night.
