Donny something like this would be nice 5L, manual, 135,000K's and its a TE would be worth a look and about the right money.

Which engine would that one have?
Iv had a breif look at the T series cars, theres a lot of confusing diffrences in these for me....
The model levels of them also confuse me, what engines they have, what trim levels aka fairmont type or normal type dash.
some have those body colour seats, some dont, an some have the white instruments an some dont.
some have wild body kits, some like this one has a real subtle one..

To be honest, I still struggle to like the look of these. The XR just looks a bit more cohesive as a whole kit to me, where as these T series body kits look a bit aftermarket looking and gaudy.. Just my tastes.

Donny

Id say you will be looking at T1/2 cars

T1/2 TE50 are fairmont based with high series dash ie Climate control.
T1/2 TS50 are Fairmont ghia based with high series dash ie Climate control
No T1/2 has the XR style dash

Not a great deal of difference on the inside except the seats, TS50 has Aubergine leather and a different style of seat.

T1 TE50- 200kw
T1 TS50- 220kw
T2 TE/S50 220kw
The T3 is the one with the 'wild' bodykit.
Would be hard to find a TS manual
TE has the coloured leather ie you could get red blue or plain black. For me the cloth trim it far to plain.
Hope that helps

That helps a bit, means Id need a T2 TE to get the 220 motor.

What about the white dial instruments, is there any pattern to which got these?

No you can get a T1 TS50 to get a 220, but your after a manual and they are auto. All T1/2 cars have the white dash facia. T3 TE has the blue XR facia and TS has the white one

That Series 1 manual is a very good buy - I'm guessing 10 will buy it.

Even though is is "only" a 200kW motor I would buy it (dollar for dollar) over a Series 3 XR8 any day. For one thing it's value will never decrease. I think this car is only advertised so cheap because of it's location.

It has the subtle looks and the premium interior with all the niceties you don't get in an XR8.

PS. There were only about 100 of this model ever built.

Id say you would be right, 10k would own that. Thats my spend limit too, so if that wasnt enough, then Id let it go. Townsville isnt that far.
The more I spend on the daily driver car the less I have to spend on my boat.

Im not ready to buy yet. This thread is me doing my homework first to figure out what model I want. What was and wasnt in my price range an whether or not to give the 6 a go.

On the plus side, the T's are much more limited run, they do have the better trim levels an climate ctl, and I doubt they would depreciate any more than they are now.

On the minus side, I think the XR body kit is much more to my liking, the XR dash looks fine an allthough the climate ctl would be nice, the fairmont dash isnt as nice to me.
Id be getting a 2 year younger car too with a S3 XR, even tho overall milage will be similar.
Personally the subtle look and higher end dash on these cars dosent really appeal to me that much at all, just in the same way I dont like the claytons GT, the GT-E.
Cars like this shouldnt be subtle, but then looking at the turkey perches on T3's and the front n rear bumper/air dams on those, I am not keen on that look either.

I just think the XR front nosecone and lights setup and bodykit looks much sportier and as an overall package looks nicer.

I know its a bit of nit picking, but Im the one who has to own the car, and if Im not entirely happy with certain aspects of it, then I might consider moving it along.
After all, I want this to be just my daily driver, not anything more or special, my interests lie in the old GT's, not really the new ones.
So even tho the T isnt a GT, its the nearest equivalent in the AU series. Do I really need that?? Do I need the added insurance hassle of such a limited edition car??

These are the things I must consider.

Yeah true its your car and your money, im just trying to answer your questions. The AUII/III XR with full kit is a hard car to knock IMO only thing that lets it down is the interior IMO.
I wasnt even looking to buy my TE (had an AUII XR6HP before). Now i dont know if i could go back to the low series dash, not to mention the other things a T has over an XR.
I dont know if the insurance would differ too much from an XR to a T1 though.

Hope this helps

Dont get me wrong, I certainly appreciate everyones feedback.
I had taken a quick look at the T's early on and discounted them for their cost an a little less so for their looks.
I still think Id need a T2 TE50 manual personally, but I think I am out of my price range on those, and am not prepared to pay any more than 10k really for another daily.
But Id like to say I have an open mind about these diffrent models tho, and if I can find enough advantages in the T series, then Ill consider them.

The funny thing is even the lower level dashes on the AU's is a better looking setup than the B series ones if that makes sense, an even the A series door trims are a better than the B series ones.

What other things does the T have over the XR that I should consider??

Well in regards to T1/2 cars the biggest difference for me over the XR range is that well its different. You dont see many around, but with a T series there is more chance of options when buying one aswell. The XR (AUIII) and T1/2 are pretty similar mechanically, i guess its the exterior is where it changes and that is the make or break for a potential buyer.

Sweet as, well I shall keep my mind open and see what comes my way.

Im pretty sure Id still want a T2 TE at the minimum. The series 1 AU in any guise is somthing I wanted to steer clear of for several reasons.

Again, thanks for the help.
