Things like Rogor (dimethoate ) I used a bit, but again, that got phased out. We still have Folimat (omethoate) in the chemical cabinet, but I refuse to touch it! That all assumes that the products that I do use are actually safe enough to use. Trifend (tau-fluvalinate/mycobutanil) and Confidor (imidacloprid) are the two main products I get exposed to, along with Mancozeb, Triforine, Slasher and Glyphosate. Excluding the weed killers, I am beginning to think that a lot of these consumer grade insecticides and fungicides have very minimal effectiveness, especially the fungicides. I mean, I sell these products because this is what is recommend, but when you spray a large quantity of roses weekly to prevent and control black-spot, only for the problem to continue at the same rate, it gets to the point of wondering why I bother, not to mention exposing myself to chemicals in the process.

For me its all well and good that the operator takes personal precautions but alot of these products have withholding periods that aren't often observed.
I worked in a nursery as a junior, alot of people, me included were getting sick with chronic fatigue symptoms. Turns out the owner who lived on site would go out and spray insecticides in the hot houses at night. A few hours later we'd be in there working. I've seen it on the golf courses too, spraying gnarly chems an hour before play. You pull the flag out or pick up your ball and you've made direct contact. Things do seem to be getting better with new generation chems but for alot of us the damage may have already been done.

I once had a boss who owned a rubbish dump, so that tells you what he thinks of the environment. He handed me a piece of paper with the word ROGOR written on it. He instructed me to spray EVERYTHING with it, so then the garden would never have a pest outbreak .
On the same token, I follow mr lawn porn on face book and it often shows him at his kids school with a chemical boom spray applying something to the grass that the kids lay on at lunch time, under the guise of helping them out. I am no greenie, but we should really be thinking about whether we really need to treat some things.

Pesticides, weed killers or whatever I always wear a respirator/mask, gloves and disposable overalls, seen what this s*** did to my brother in the 70's & 80's when he had a hobby farm.
In simple terms it is all poison, so handle with due care. |

…Workaholism. It’s less than 90 minutes since I downed tools and already feeling guilt, like I should be doing more. My mind doesn’t recognise when my body physically needs a break.

I've had an issue with one of my windows leaking inside during heavy rain recently but the gutters overflowed out the slots at best of times making it impossible to use the pergola as you'd get drenched going in and out.
I had them cleaned on Thursday and they blew away a lot of crap. It ****ed down here a bit today and generally seems a lot better and no leaking but still a bit of overflow (much less) making it wet under the pergola. For whatever reason they pitched the pergola to fall back into the house guttering so it just isn't enough down pipes considering it was extended in the first place, it just can't cope with the extra square metres. The only way I can think of sorting it out with the existing structure is to use battens to slope it away from the house or to drop the posts and beams but either way surely would need another gutter on the pergola. Hopefully I won't get more leaking inside as that is most important but still need to sort out this pergola because it is not ideal :( |

Dealing with ASIC...
Moved house, need to move my company address. Can't find my Corporate Key so after I call them they send me a form to fill out, and tell me to include a cover page asking for the change of address without the Corporate Key, then I will request a new Corporate Key that they will send to my new address. And all this is apparently on their memo system after my calls. Send off the letter, my return address is my PO BOX, the same one I want to use to make my mailing address for my company. They reply, by mail stating they can't process my request as the paperwork is missing the Corporate Key. They sent the reply to the PO BOX I requested the change be made to. You couldn't make it up if you tried....

Haha one of my favourites I have had is I moved house and I got a letter at my new address from the AEC saying that they have automatically put me in the electorate and updated my address on the roll. I was still in the same electorate by the way
Anyways it says if this is not correct then to contact them or something. Well if I don't live there then I wouldn't get the letter in the first place and if I do live there then I don't need to do anything |

The exact reason I end up on cruise boats CB, to be truthful I like going to knew places but life on board can be bit plastic at times. But as the wife says its the only place I have stop and do nothing (which you do need a recharge at times) saying that i tend to gravitate to where they are doing repairs on board. I seldom watch TV just find it a time wasting trap, does my head in listening to people comparing notes on married at first sight and the such, all I can think is do you hate life that much you will waste precious time on earth viewing garbage. And yep my body is failing as well from years of physical abuse. Cheers.

Was driving home today and smelt coolant. I was hoping it was the car infront. Lucky i was just about home as the needle rose but not over ¾. Split the top rad hose. Atleast its the easiest one to change and i will get one tomorrow, but its annoying none the less.

Dunno where to place this one. But anyhows, i do not like crowded places. You put a few intelligent people in one place and they are intelligent. Put a crowd of intelligent people in the same place, they turn into idiots. I dont like that.
Anyrate, way before my car steam cleaned the engine bay, my brother came to my place because he wanted to go to my local meat market. The meat market is great. Anything you want, tail to snout. And heaps of other stuff you cannot get at a supermarket at way better prices for better quality. I always say go there yourself. Dunno if he is like me or im like him. We dont cope well in crowded places. But today the place was quiet. His main objective was pickled stuff. This place does heaps of that. So yeah, coctail onions, but also pickled real onions, white, brown spanish, chopped or whole so not just the small onions. Same with gherkins of varying sizes of chillies. I was more impressed by 3kgs of pork snags for $21. I like that place because of the quality and prices, but stay away typically because of the crowded ignorence. |

Went to so much trouble keeping my little truck clean, last 2 days in and out of the quarry picking stone. Today I find myself down the wet dirt track with a grader churning up slop and mud banks just where I need my wheels to be. Lovely.

I ain't washing it again this week, tomorrow back at the quarry and I reckon the water truck would sit there waiting for me to lay down their own strip of a mobile mud bath.
Couple of owner drivers I use there (T900 Kenworth's for others here reading) who refuse to drive their super well presented trucks behind the water truck. As you know it takes a fair bit of time detailing a truck.

I tried to call them (again) and couldn't get through. So I send another online enquiry. I explain in great detail what I was told to do, and how stupid they were to request I provide something they told me not to provide. I also clearly indicated that they didn't read anything I sent, and that the reply I got was a generic 'copy and paste' reply. Waited a few days and got this response: _____________________________ Please do not reply to this email as it is an unattended mailbox. On 25 January 2023 we returned Form 484 to the lodging party, along with a covering letter explaining what information is required. Told them my patience was wearing thin, and to get your bloody act together. I felt better after that.... petty, I know. They can either ignore me, call me, or send me another 'we did not get a reply from our previous request'. Well.. it seems it finally landed on the lap of a person that can read and comprehend basic English... ______________________________ Please do not reply to this email as it is an unattended mailbox. Walked past the local Sanity yesterday and saw the store was almost bereft of anything and had 75% off as today is their last day of trade. Got a few things and checked the interweb when I got home to find all stores nationwide will be closed by April.
I may have been living under a rock to have not heard the news but it sucks. I am an old fashioned sort of chap and prefer physical copies over downloaded content that can be rescinded at any time. I also have no streaming services as I am cheap I guess. 😂 I quite enjoy wandering through the store to find interesting stuff as well as what I am specifically after, looks like that guilty pleasure is one step closer to being a thing of the past too.. The local J.B has been severely cutting their music section back over the last umpteen months, if it's not top 40 crap, then you have to order it in. The more we "progress", the more it feels like we are spiralling into the Third World.. Maybe I need to stop being such a dinosaur and adopt the future... Not friggin' likely. Cheers, Tony |

But, on the flip side, streaming services can actually offer the consumer more. I know there are songs from some of my favorite artists that did not ever end up on a physical recording but exist in the streaming universe. This includes a lot of live performances. I would say perhaps sign up to something like Spotify, deal with the occasional add, and see how you like it. If you do, you can then subscribe and enjoy no adds the full width of availability.

D'oh... I am a hypocrite.. 😂
I do listen to spotify on the odd occasion when I'm out in the shed but prefer a physical library surrounding me (maybe I'm just a hoarder?) I still refuse to get anything like Netflix etc because, as previously detailed.. Cheap. |

I ended up subscribing to Apple Music, mainly because I'm already within their ecosystem. Like Spotify, you also get access to podcasts and artist specific interviews. I wouldn't go back now, music streaming is much more convenient for me. Although having said that, I would like to flesh out my collection of CD's on a certain performer.

During the pandemic, I decided that I would rather NOT enter a supermarket. For a while now, I have been doing the weekly shop from the comfort of my home, as in an online ordering my groceries.
Now, I'm an online shopping pro, another skill acquired during the pandemic, so I know what a good sales-based website perform like. Coles is not one of those. My sister works for Coles head office, and it's widely known that their website is crap, to the point where she makes it crystal clear that she is NOT involved in that area of the business. Well, good news! Coles have launched a new format for their website........................................... .........and it's even worse than the previous one! One thing is sure though, I'm informed that they spent a LOT of money on that upgrade.
