Washing Under Your Car - Where can you do it??

Years ago i went to a place that washed underneath my car, but that was when my car wasnt lowered, and it only just made it onto the hoist, as it was in a bay sorta thing to keep the waste water in one area...

what i am wondering if anyone knows anywhere in brisbane where you can take your car, put it up on a hoist and degrease and clean underneath your car???

Rather than reply and ask "Or does anyone know of anywhere in Victoria", does anyone know of places that have this sort of setup anywhere in the country?

I'd be interested in doing this to my car, as I'm sure many others would too.

Apparently those new laser car wash places can actually do underneath the cars...
That is what I was told by an owner/operator of one.. but have not personally tried.. so don't know how truthful it really is..

I imagine they would be able to if they had hoists... I've been to a few different laserwash places and while you could clean in the wheel arch if you were creative enough, you'd really need kind of hoist..

No not the ones you do yourself.. its automatic.. the washers are on the ground pointing up.. high pressure...

There is one at Browns Plains (thats the place I was originally talking about)..
Dont know if any others are setup like his though..

I put my car on stands and do it myself, sure it's messy job but the car is clean underneath.

Yeah - any Carlovers that has a 'Laserwash' has an underbody spray - pretty powerful to. Use to use it a lot after coming back from camping trips...

A good reason would be to prevent rust. Dirt contains salts and other corrosive substances which would be a catalyst in causing oxidisation.

For a thorough underbody wash, enter the bay very slowly until the jets start, then inch forward very slowly... take as much time as you want.

yep that's what i do
got a huge diesle gurney and yer it's a wet messy job
but i see it beeing a lot more accuret then runing ur car over jet blaster's

personle touch is way better then a machine n e day:P

I just chuck it up on stands and start from one end then work my way down to the other.....although a friend of mine recently had a car fall on him when the stands gave way, lucky someone was there to help otherwise he would probably be dead..so extra care in setting up those stands and i think its always a good idea to have someone else around if your going to get underneath a car

Really? The car fell of the stands?

If stands are used on solid flat surface and under the chassis, it will not fall. I have had cars on stands for years like this.

Yeah, stands should hold the weight, thats what there designed for, but the one that collapsed on him...the weld around the bottom of the stand just broke, then the other one on the otherside sliped off and the car fell....I just think that people should take extra care placing where the stands go. I usually just quickly chuck them anywhere but now after what happened Im scared sh1tless to get under a car without someone else being there..

My dad actually has spare truck tyres (or 4wd tyres) that he puts under the car after its on stands etc.. He said its not fool proof but gives enough time to scoot out if the stand should give way...
All precautions should be taken when you are dealing with a car on stands etc..

I dont really know of any places that its easy to do other then get under with hose.. My mates drove half the car up the driveway the onto gutter (left side) and half on the street to "de-cake" the dirt under his ef.. thats always an option. Although a stupid one...

There is a "truck wheel-wash" at my work. They were forced to put one in by local council due to mud being a hazard on the truck exit from the log yard to the main road. A lot of people at work use it to clean under there 4x4's but you'd never get a standard size car over it. The electricians actually bottomed out the old subaru ute on it one night, came out looking like drowned rats. The water blasts upwards and do's the sides. Activated by p.e leccy eye thingys.

To get rid of the dust, weight is easier and cheaper to remove than increasing horsepower and bigger brakes.

Most of the self serve car wash's have jets that spray under the car as you drive thriught the bay were it is like the car wash at the servo u know were u just out money drive throiugth then stop
