Mine is up on stands. So far have changed radiator and some hoses, new header tank and coolant, spark plugs, diff oil. Trans ATF tomorrow although shortly I am going to get a Ford trans specialist to fix a leak towards the rear and replace the rear mount which is covered in ATF.

Also going to swap out the steering rack as its leaking both sides. I have one from a TE50 thats only done 63,000 klms so will see how that goes and get a wheel alignment.

After the mechanical work is finished I will start the detail inside and out and get some pics up
Sounds like your getting stuck in.
Looking forward to seeing some pics.

Another example of LWB car that should have been plated AUIII as the LWB changed to AUIII in July 02

Curious to know what the differences were on the AUIII LWB

Been busy getting this car sorted mechanically and still haven't done any detailing but might get to it this weekend when I get a 4 day break but with top temps of high 30's forecast maybe not.

Paint is shiny but has plenty of swirls and holograms in it so I will give it a 3 step correction. Bought a set of slimline weathershields for it today as its a hot colour and I want to let the heat out by having the windows down a bit. LCD display has been previously repaired and the roof console is broken due to being brittle from the heat so ordered a new one today. Being a late AU its actually got a BA squarish one in it so I ordered same.

Car is pretty well sorted with the following items replaced
Radiator 2 core copper and hoses
Header tank and fresh coolant
Spark plugs Bosch Platinum
Harmonic balancer Powerbond
Power steer pump nut
Power steer rack replaced with T3 TE50 unit from a wreck with only 63K on it
Auto service with full flush and some gaskets replaced to fix leaks
Rear trans mount replaced due to damage from trans leaks
Diff oil replaced

When the trans specialist did the rear extension housing gasket and mount he had to lower the exhaust out of the way and the small rubber mounts for the cross bar between the exhaust flanges just disintegrated due to being soaked in fluid. Ford dealer spent a lot of time looking for these on their system but no luck. Its a 12mm rod that passes thru 2 u shaped hangers just forward of the rear mount

You can see it laying in the bottom of the hangers. So I cut a length of garden hose and fuel pipe running one inside the other and got it around the bar from one side to the other thru the hangers as a temporary measure. A mate has a Ford spares contact and hopefully he can find the rubbers when he returns from hols. The issue is the bar is not shown in Fords exploded diagram and they looked at earlier and later models and even 6 cyl cars trying to find the part. Will report back when I know more

Has come up ok. The tops aren't perfect.

Jobs done so far:
All fluids and filters replaced
Windscreen replaced
Electrochromatic mirror installed
2 new genuine remotes programmed
2 new tyres

Jobs to do:
Replace failed window tint
Replace leaking exhaust
Detail interior

That's about it I think.
Looking forward to use it once I start my new job as I'll only have a work vehicle to commute so will need to use this outside of that.

Looking for any Sportsman specific parts. If anyone has any let me know.
Front mats in particular.

Hey,
It's still around. A Fairlane Collector has it now.
I believe your mum contacted him somehow. She wasn't impressed that the radio had been replaced apparently!

Thanks for your reply mate,

So what made you sell it, looked like you were really looking after it and tidying it up to a high standard?

Too many cars and not enough space to keep it undercover. I've got the space now - wish I'd kept it in a way.

Wow they both look in amazing condition. Both Cardinal Red too. Not sure which one I like best to be honest. Sunroof on the ED really suits them and shark fin Tickfords suit EF so well too...

Thanks. The EF has 56k on it.
The ED has nearly 300k on it. I've done a fair bit of tidying up to it.

Thats amazing. That would have to be the lowest km EF left in the country by now. Would be amazing to see it. What's its story?

I doubt it's the lowest!
Brought by a veteran who got a new Fairmont Ghia every 2 years. He passed away one year into this one and his wife didn't use it a lot. She had to give up driving, I brought it from her son on her behalf.
It appears to have blown the head gasket I discovered yesterday when I went to start it for the first time in 4 months!
