Default Bicycle and cars......incident

Was driving home today and saw a typically avoidable situation regarding an clearly entitled bike rider and overly aggressive 4wd driver.

So down main st in reasonable traffic it's traffic light to light but free flowing generally.

Bicycle guy sits in middle lane of 3 and all cars give space and move forward. Then at lights, same rider splits lanes and it happens all over again (he was doing maybe 25 in a 50 zone.)

Eventually a 4wd driver gets out and confronts him, leaving the bike rider on the ground held by the throat. Quickly broken up by others all of which gave the rider a spray.

Fair to say bike rider left the road quick smart.

I don't condone violence at all nor what happened but it's this kind of complete stupidity that gives bicycle riders a really bad image imo. Most are fine I'm sure.

Why he had to keep lane splitting for seemingly no reason whatsoever is beyond me.

It's no race when driving or riding on streets, but it shows a complete lack of respect for vehicles on the road imo.

Where’s Haakon? I’ve told him to sign up before. MAMIL and occasional Falcon pilot.

Yeah I don't know.

It certainly should be as this was just ridiculous to hold up traffic, then magically arrive back at the front rinse and repeat.

That's not exactly how it happened. The bicycle rider was far more counter aggressive until taken down.

This is why I have stopped riding almost entirely (which I used to love), cyclists giving other cyclists a bad name basically drawing a big bullseye on everyone's back, and motorists who can't stay in their lane (mainly pointed at SE QLD drivers) and losing the plot when they are feeling inconvenienced.

Not surprising when we believe 'the world owes me' really.

I'm not sure why so sensitive.

This guy cycling really slowly meaning traffic changing lanes etc to be safe then thinks it's ok to start at front every set of lights and cause the same problems?

Ok then if not thread worthy. I'm sorry but (being biased) I love my road bike but never would think to be as stupid to take main lane etc way underspeed.

The 4wd put him on his back after his (ridiculous) reaction.

The Bicycle guy was so upset he was confronted.

They are but very different to motorcyclists where they clear off.

Continually clogging a lane at low speed is asking for trouble imo

Mercury T, considering the field of work you are employed in I would have thought you would know better in this type of situation. I'll admit, I dislike bike riders in general but would never condone violence against them.

This thread is only going to go one way, hence it is now closed.
