Default Fixed price servicing

For those who have bought a new car and have had the FPS included, how many times have you been caught out with "extra charges". The same for any other brand too.

Never - I make it clear what I'm getting done and paying for when I drop the car off and make it more clear that any deviation needs to get the OK from me before going ahead.

I can do a lot of the general consumables myself, anything else gets done by my local mechanic.

Never been stung with extra charges. However, I don't think FPS is a great deal, they just change the oil + filer and not much else.

Any local mechanic could do the same for less dollars.

Dealer dependant, they try up sell for stuff like balancing the wheels, injector cleaner. Load of rubbish.

Tried a independent, was cheaper but didn’t include road side assist. Add that on and they cane out square.

I sorta always thought Ford servicing was a rip. Being on here I've heard all the stories as many others have. Recently I researched SUVs looking at Endura and comparing against CX5/8/9 even a SKODA which was quite interesting. VW Tiguan on the list but then I looked at the servicing costs. Geez if u think Ford rip u a new one then u ought to see the others. I stayed clear of Kia/Hyundai, not a fan, but then I thought check em out. WOW I thought their servicing would be better than Fords but it was way up there. Over the first 5 years it was at least 1k more than Ford. I didn't like Kia and Hyundai just because but now I have a legitimate reason to cross them off.
