Default LW Focus coilovers - What's available?

Hi guys, as the title suggests I'm after some help finding a set of coilovers for a LW Titanium Focus sedan (diesel). The car will only be street driven, mainly highway km's so spring rates need to be somewhat forgiving. Essentially this mod if for aesthetic reasons not performance but I want the ability to adjust the ride height if needed.

After looking around online I cant seem to find much available for the LW.. any suggestions as to brands, models and places to buy from? Does the Focus require any cambers kits after lowering or is there enough adjustment in the factory setup? If so what do people suggest?

Thanks for your help.

If the LW is anything like the LS-LV, you can forget about sourcing anything locally - top quality suspension parts are too rare and/or too expensive here. Many of us have been through this exercise and found it cheaper to import products from Eibach, Koni, Bilstein, etc from Europe. If you are determined to source something locally, you will probably have to wait for Pedders to make a coilover kit, if they haven't already.

When searching online, your car is known in Euorope as the Focus Mk3. LW only applies to Australia (AFAIK).

As listed in the links above, I would consider the usual suspects - Eibach, KW, and Bilstein. I believe Koni still has stuff in development. In some cases, you may find that the local catalogues having nothing listed, but the European catalogues do.

Also, the LS-LV Focus required a camber kit with lowering (rear kit only) and whiteline will eventually develop one for the LW if required I'd imagine.

Very hard to find! I see whiteline have sway bars for the LW but I don't want to be the first to try them out.

Good info, thanks guys. Might take a look at either the KW, Eibach or possibly the KSport coilovers.

What size are the standard swaybars on the Focus?

Hey,

I dug this up instead of starting a new thread, anyone put coilovers in their LW/LW mkII? I'm thinking about an adjustable set for my Sport.

Pretty decent at 900 euro air freighted..

Thoughts anyone?

My only real reason one changing is for looks, I want my Sport lower. it handles well already

Not to do with coil overs...but springs
I'm wanting to lower my LW about an inch, as I don't want to have to replace shocks etc. And I don't want to reduce ride quality too much.

Was recommended Pedders sports ryder, but that's a 1-1.5 inch drop (apparently) and way overpriced. I was 10000% sold on EIBACH pro kit but apparently they won't have one for the 2012 LW 2.0L manual until next year :"(

Does anyone have a similar alternative/recommendation/ etc??.......or will it be better to import?

I'm not are if these are the right ones but they seem to be..

Thank you in advance

Get King Springs. They are made in Australia and always pretty accurate. Lows will give you around a one inch drop. Super Lows would be about two inches. They are usually about 30% stiffer than stock so will give a firmer ride without knocking your fillings out.

You could try for set of 2nd hand sport springs, they sit lower than trend.

Best bet would be to go and look at a sport and see if you like the height. Then I would check out the wreckers for a sport, probably not that easy or price up springs from your dealer.

Pretty sure these springs would be available right now as an import.

Have you tried the Eibach catalogue? http://web2.carparts-cat.com/default...F279004&12=100

My suggestion would be to get the part number, google it, and then import it.

Paste the part number into eBay even

That's exactly what I did ;) I just couldn't wait lol. Have ordered the pro kit and should be getting it sometime in the next week or two they actually weren't as expensive as I thought, and worked out cheaper than buying in Aus.

Good one! You were one step ahead of me haha

What was the correct part number (and price if you don't mind me asking)? Would be a good future reference for members looking at this thread in the future

the price was $320 which included international postage. The website shows slightly higher prices because they add VAT, but we don't pay VAT because we're in Australia so the prices are actually about $30-40 cheaper than what's listed on the website for most of the products. I wasn't sure of the part number so I emailed the guys my VIN and they told me these springs would fit a 2012 Focus Trend:

http://www.european-parts.net/catalo...oducts_id=1230

If they don't fit, they said they would swap or refund it's worth sending your VIN to get a guarantee, or at least to cover yourself if they don't fit.

Seems we're discussing lowering springs rather than coilovers.

I have the eibach pro-kit springs, rather than the sportlines. The pro-kit drop, is not as much as the sportlines.

Both the pro-kit springs and the sportlines, are lower than the stock springs found in the "sport" models.

I'm happy to have bought the more moderate pro-kit springs, which I am also running with the adjustable whiteline rear bar.

Sorry for the delay, here are some pics with the Eibach pro-kit springs. This was the same day as they were installed so they're not properly settled here. I'll take some new pics soon, as they've been in for a few months now.

The ride quality is pretty much exactly the same as before, very happy with the handling too They're on their own atm, no other suspension mods and they're doing well!
