Question AUII sports exhaust

G'day
I am new to this site. my first thread. I wanted a sports exhaust with extractors on my AUII XL Ute and being bit nieve about exhaust i rang Nationally known company and they installed a 2 and a half inch system with short 2-3-1 mild steel extractors. Well after 2 weeks, the bolts fell out of the extractor flange and th e chrome extensions had already started to corrode. I got a little more power but my fuel economy went down by about 12%.
After many complaints to the head office about not being advised or asked about the quality or brand of installation i want i am getting my chrome extensions replaced with Stainless Steel and my no name mild steel extractors replaced with the shorter version of Genie Stainless Extractors.
as Genie is a well known quality brand, will my power and fuel consumtion improve.

Hi , welsome to the forums

Just guessing (basing of any car)- performance -> yes a tadd more with the extractors, definatelly a better sounding note with stainless compared to mild steel. - economy -> hard to say - i think there is a bit more to it if u want ur extractors to work economically for u & to get full performance out of them ( matching inlet airflow system , matching exhuast system so u have correct back pressure etc etc etc ) . read into things a bit more before you go lashing the $$ out imo ;) .. gl

Genie are good value. They have been around for a long time & use mandrel bends on their headers In saying that they are not the best but it comes down to budget. Jim Mock Motorsport & Pacemaker comps have proven to be the highest horsepower gaining headers but come at a price. I have Genies plus a redback exhaust on my AUII sedan & am very happy. Your fuel consumption will improve but don't expect miracles, problem being without you knowing it your driving will become a little more spirited. Ensure you reset the computer. Instructions can be found via aufalcon.com under the workshop section. Do this & you will be happy. Welcome to the forums
