I was reading through motorsport.com and noticed that Team Aon's Tom Chilton driving the Focus has secured FORD'S first Pole position since the year 2000.
It's the first year back in the BTCC since Ford last raced the Mondeo and it's the last Round of this year's championship and a development year for the cars and the Team. Here's hoping that they can get some good results for next year's Championship.

Nice, i noticed Ford has a team, i thought they were Focus's now though, thats right yes? I'm guessing thats why this is in the Focus section. It's a great effort because i've been following it a bit and Ford havent really been on the pace with the leaders all year, infact far from it. Still we can only hope for the fast days when Ford had the yellow and blue mondeos' with drivers like Radisich and Menu

Results are in and Tom did o.k. and best results for the entire championship. Race 1 P2, Race 2 P6 and Race 3 P3. That's it for 2009 but I might continue this Thread and make it the one we can follow the Focus in '10.
= Fordman = , you're spot on there. Team Aon are using MK II Focus and a bit of a Postscript to the Mondeo's. A few years back Timmeh, Whippet-Zetec, Abraxas and I ventured out to (I think it was) Oran Park and at the time a team were running Ex-BTCC Rouse-Built Mondeo's. Timmeh got to sit in one of them and they were showing their age but still sounded pretty good. I think it was a category for Ex-Supertourers.

I've been watching the btcc on ONE HD and been pretty dissapointed with the results of the Focus so far. A pole is great news. Which track is it so I know when to look out fot it on TV? Been quite good watching something different to the V8s for once. I've noticed a whole different style of driving form the FWD and its been quite entertaining.

Yeah, I source my program from the Herald in Sydney which doesn't indicate if it's a repeat or not which is frustrating though ONE HD has got some good motorsport series covered which is right up my alley.
If they've shown four rounds so far I'm finding it difficult to keep up with what's happend and how many more they've got to show.

Just read a report in Performance Ford mag (UK) where the team is suggesting that the Focus really comes into it's own in the wet

You know something, when the Team started racing the Focus which I believe is early this year I googled their site and contacted them requesting something/anything about the cars and to-date have heard nothing. Disappointing and I might try again.

Is it a 5cycl or 4? I assumed it was an ST, however I notice it only has a single exhaust outlet so obviosly doesn't have the ST exhaust system. Does anyone know what the right cutout on the rear bar is for??

Looks like it is just the second cut out for the other exhaust, perhaps in the BTCC they can run single straight through systems, rather then have a join in the system where flow can be disrupted it would be a more efficient way for the exhaust gases to leave the car. Just doesn't look as good on the eyes.
