Best place to start is new air filter, like a K&N panel filter. After that would be a cold air induction system, but they're not exactly off the shelf & would need a bit of work. New plugs & leads would help as well.
For a few more $$$ you get can extractors, cams & a dream science tuner.
After all that, you still won't see a huge power gain & fuel economy might suffer & you could have bought an XR4 for the money.
Personally, I've just got the K&N & use castrol edge 5-30w oil. I might look into the plugs & leads soon.

Sweet. Does it have the body kit? I had a WP Zetec and with the kit it looked the tits. You planning any more mods, wheels?

nah it doesnt have the body kit, which is a bit annoying but oh well.
not going to touch the wheels, they are the 16inch optionals and really like them. plus just got them all fixed after having issue after issue with them.
dunno what to do next, just gathering ideas at this stage, but would like to get the XR4 roof spoiler, scuff plates and maybe exhaust tips (not sure how to do this though because of the way the exhaust is shaped)

Don't get me wrong, I love mine. The only limitation is that the 1.6 isn't really as tuneable as the 2.0.
A couple of mods I'd like would be a rear disc conversion, using LR Focus discs, & Eibach springs. Poly bushes & new sway bars might be worth it as well.

yeah i heard the 1.6 is very limited with tuning.
somehow i think there is a bit of a scene for improving looks rather than performance

I had the Eibachs put on my car with a rear swaybar it has made the car so much better to drive so i would definitely recommend those upgrades.
